feathering not working

Post by revmatthew »

Hi:
I saw one unanswered post on this from some years back, so I'll make my stab at this.
Working in pro x6, I have been trying to feather the edges of some edges of an image. I saved it as PNG and JPEG. After doing a number of things, selecting, editing, cropping, I am unable to get the edges of the image to feather. There must be some little setting I'm missing for I've done this on other images.
Is it the anti-alias setting?
Is it the type of image?
I've added the image. any help for this would be much appreciated. and, seeing as how its likely a simple thing...I've embarassed myself before

Try this:
LOad your image and do Layers > Promote Background Layer
Selections > Select all this will give a marquee around thge edges.
Selection > Modify > Contract and try 10 pixels. This will bring in your selection boundaries by the 10 pixels. Now you can feather this'
Selection > Modify > Feather and try 5 pixels.
Selections > Invert and hit the delete key and then Selections None and you should have your image with a feathered border on a transparent background.
