Gave up on VS7 Ultimate

Post by jkallinen »

The day after getting my first 4k render to work, short 3.5 mn flick. Yesterday I started a new project using the same settings from my previous run knowing it worked.

Well after 5 hours of putting together another video I go to render the video into and it will only process it to 53% before crashing out to desktop. I do this 4 times and decide to try the complete un-install and re-install. I give up, does the same thing again, I am considering this a complete write off of $90 since I know I would never get refund. Just wasting my time.

Bought Sony Movie Studio 13 and the learning curve is quite different. But so far, no crashing.

Thanks for all the help you all have given. I will be over at the sony support forums now. :D

Yeah,

I am a video fan and also trying to select a good (amateur) video editor:

- Corel VideoStudio X7 - http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/default.html
- MAGIX Movie Edit Pro - http://www.magix.com/int/movie-edit-pro/
- MAGIX Video Pro X6, more expensive - http://pro.magix.com/en/video-pro-x/overview.275.html
- Cyberlink PowerDirector 13 - http://www.cyberlink.com/products/power ... en_US.html
- Pinnacle Studio 18 - http://www.pinnaclesys.com/publicsite/us/home/

And I can't find a good reviews about latest comparisson of (above) tools and its overal stability. :(
All developers claim the same. Their tool is a leader... :P

Pinnacle Studio is now owned by Corel so two from the same stable. Cyberlink was rated the best followed by VideoStudio in a review I saw.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Another good one is Sony Movie Studio Platinum. It has a steeper learning curve than the others you mention, but I rate it second after Video Studio -- which I still find easiest to use for the things I am after, though that is largely a result of using it for over a decade! In some respects, I prefer Sony's output, particular with regard to its audio editing. I also have Power Director and Magix, but have had some problems with Power Director, and I find Magix somewhat impenetrable, though I confess I have not devoted enough time to mastering it.
