Opening image in adjust workspace

Post by UnlikelyMoniker »

When I click on the Adjust tab while working on an image in the edit workspace, the Adjust workspace opens OK but the active image isn't displayed. I have to use the file browser to locate it and re-open it. I understood that PSP should automatically display the active image in the selected workspace each time the user switches between the Edit, Adjust and Manage tabs. Am I missing something?

You don't say which version of PSP you are working with.

I have an image open in PSP X7, click Adjust and the same image in Edit opens in Adjust just fine.

Can you explain a little more what exactly you are doing?

trublue,

I'm on X6. I open an image in the Edit workspace. I click Adjust. The Adjust workspace opens showing another image (the last one I worked on in Adjust). I click on Edit and the image currently in Adjust opens in Edit. The image that I opened in Step One is gone - as in completely gone from PSP, it's not open in another Edit tab or minimised.

The behaviour is consistent whether I open images into Edit via the File-Open option, File-New, drag an image from Windows Explorer or right click on a file in explorer and choose PSP from the Open with... context menu.

The only exception to this is if I browse to the image's folder with PSP's Navigator and then open it by clicking on a thumbnail in the PSP Organiser. On my PC, PSP will only toggle images between Edit and Adjust if they're in the folder that's currently open in Organiser.

For whatever reason Corel believes you should work from left to right (Manage -> Adjust -> Edit) and not vice versa. I'm not saying I agree with this reasoning; just stating that's what it is. Personally I work strictly in the Edit workspace.

I did test X6 and X7 and both behave the same way for me. Here's what I found.

I opened an image in Edit and then switched to the Adjust tab. The following happened:

1. If no changes were made to the image the image in Edit was automatically closed
2. If changes were made to the image I was given the option to save or not prior to the image being automatically closed
3. A different image appeared in the Adjust tab. It happens to be the first picture in My Pictures folder.
4. When I switched back to the Edit tab the picture from the Adjust tab was retained.

Thanks kathy_9. Glad to know it's not just me.

I work in the Edit tab 95% of the time so I guess I'll carry on ignoring the Adjust tab!
