Quicktime is the software (owned by Apple) which produces the .mov format. One of your stated problems has to do with .mov files in VS. And yes, the version installed with VS is already out of date by two builds -- I think 7.7.6 just came out a day or so ago. Could be worth upgrading???

Re: Why does motion tracker speed up video clip?
I'm at my wits end!
After several hours of trying (ain't dial up wonderful?) I finally got Quick Time updated.
Result: VSP X7 64 bit now seems to import .mov files without conversion.
BUT the motion tracker now works in fast forward like it did in the 32 bit version!!!!!!
Now, I have to figure out how to get the 7.7.4 version restored because with that, once I converted the .mov files to AVCHD files, the motion tracker worked in slow motion.
I REALLY hate VSP X7!

If you have a restore point to before you installed the QT update, then simply do a System Restore. If not, then uninstall 7.7.6 and reinstall 7.7.4...

Re: Why does motion tracker speed up video clip?
Actually, what I did was uninstall QT 7 and reinstalled VSP X7 64 bit with its older version of QT and I'm back to where I was before. I still have to convert my .mov files but the motion tracker works in slow motion again. Maybe it's time to buy a new camera! Then I won't have to fuss with the conversions...am assuming newer cameras use a different file system...can only hope.
I also sent all these results to that customer support agent I've been communicating with (who has yet to answer my last 2 letters) telling him to pass this on to their tech department and see if they can make sense of it.
Seems to me that QT and VSP are not getting along very well with each other. I also discovered that trying to talk directly to Apple is about as fruitful as Microsoft.
Ken, thanks again for all your advice. I think we'll leave it at that for this thread since there is not much more to be said.

Re: Why does motion tracker speed up video clip?
It's nothing to do with QT, seems to me you didn't read VSX7 manual and learn how to use the tool.
If you open it and read page 154 you will find how to set the tracking IN and OUT points.
And regarding the tracking speed processing, it's perfectly well at about 2X real time.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into it. I find the manual's brief explanations a little insufficient sometimes to understand. I'm not a computer wizard.
However, I would argue that QT still has an effect on VSP and how it behaves since changing QT versions did change how the program operated. That would only make sense since VSP relies on QT for some of its file handling.
