I've been using Paint Shop Pro X6 to clean up scans. The scans typically come in as 300 dpi one bit per pixel tiffs.
Often they work fine.
On other occasions PSP operates on them correctly but on saving them it changes them into negative images - ie white background becomes black, black text becomes white. If I read such a file back in, PSP shows it as a negative image, but simply saving again negates it again back to a black text on white image. It requires no editing operations to make these color reversals happen.
So far I have found no logic as to when PSP decides to start doing this or how to make it stop. I've tried all the tif compression settings (including uncompressed) and I've tried with and without an ICC color pallet included. None of these change the result.
Paintshop Pro X6 16.2.0.20 X64
Windows 7 service pack 1.
Tried updating the graphics driver - long shot - no effect.
The file that is currently doing this is 300 dpi, 1492 x 2470 pixels – about 83K, or 457K if saved with options set to uncompressed.
When X6 saves TIF files, it inverts the colors

Re: When X6 saves TIF files, it inverts the colors
I am having the same problem with X7. I see you have gotten a lot of help with this issue.
I used the old Paint Shop Pro v7.04 for years and never had this type of problem. It also had an easier to use, user interface. I only upgraded so that I could get the 64 bit version, which would handle larger files.
I'm not impressed.
Does anybody from Corel monitor these boards? How about a fix for this problem?
And please, don't go down the path of telling me to check that Windows is updated, and that my video drivers are up to date, and blah, blah, blah. I run the Autodesk Inventor suites and other 3D CAD programs without error. I run various HMI / SCADA processes, which include various graphical trending screens without any errors. Fix your problem please. Bearing in mind, the old Paint Shop Pro v7.04 runs fine on the same files that exhibit this problem in version X7.

COuld you post a sample file (with probelm) elsewhere so we can test on our system ?Dave G wrote:I've been using Paint Shop Pro X6 to clean up scans. The scans typically come in as 300 dpi one bit per pixel tiffs.

Are all you tiff files affected ?
I have often problems with scanned TIFF files on my own computer. Now, I scans as BMP.
I think Corel will not fix anything if you don't give them detailed steps on how to get the defect (on demand, not randomly).
