Re: videostudio X7 problem
Thank you, I will try.
I have also another problem with the DVD copy.
When I burn the disc with maximum speed there are huge dropouts ( the DVD-R is supporting speed up to 16.0 Mbps). When I burn the DVD with 4.0 Mbps it works on any PC almost drop free, but on all desktop DVD player ( I have 3) the video starts to drop at about 60% of the total length ( the overall video is just about 40 minutes. i burned the DVD with VSX6 because the X7 dissapeared.
Any idea what else to do?
Before it was working fine.
Thanks
Eugen

Re: videostudio X7 problem
Hi Eugen
First for a video DVD always burn the disc using the slowest speed option.
Rather than burning a DVD, maybe ruining discs---creating those coasters.
Choose to Create Disc Image, deselect Create to Disc, this will save an Iso file to your hard drive. Will include the menu structure.
You can play that file (ISO) on your PC using VLC Media Player.
If the dropouts still appear then the problem is with the actual files.
Assuming the video plays ok burn a disc using Tools – Burn from Disc Image (ISO)
That will use the ISO files without any conversion to burn the disc.
Play again, if the dropouts occur then I would suspect either the disc type or your DVD Drive?
When you play the DVD’s on your stand alone DVD Player to the TV do they play ok, if yes then the problem is back with the pc???

Re: videostudio X7 problem
Hi Trevor
Thank you for your kind help.
The MPEG files on the HDD seems to be OK, I tried them before burning on TV with its on media player ( on the PC it was always OK). When I burned to DVD first time was my fault I forgot to switch to reduced burning speed ( why cannot be set it in advance - like many other things, the default is always maximum speed). This DVD could not be properly played on any PC ( all are very new 2-10 month old, 2 of them W8 one W7). Interestingly the first 20-30 min was mostly OK.
Than i burned the next DVD with, I think 6.0 speed. This DVD works fine in the first 25-30 minutes then starts to drop on desktop DVD players. On PC-s the same DVD is almost drop free ( maybe there was one drop in the whole length, I am not sure, I need to test again.
Now i somehow reinstalled the VS X7, it seems to work normally, but the DVD burning part is generating an error 257.0.0 and stops.
The VS X6 after the VS X7 cleanup seems to be also hit, because the DVD burning part of the program shuts down immediatelly everything ( before I can start to do anything).
It is crazy I am just loosing time...

Re: videostudio X7 problem
Hi
It is possible that the burner modules use common software, so a problem using in X7 may also show in X6. just an educated guess you understand.
I would uninstall all Video Studio programs and re-install. Install the oldest program first.
As I say, try Creating a Disc Image, does that cause the error 257.0.0
At least by splitting the process into separate parts you should be able to identify where the problems are.
Creating the disc image then burning that to disc takes the same times, other than the time to play the ISO, which tests quality before committing to disc, hopefully no more coasters.
By the way Windows 7 can also burn ISO to disc.

Re: videostudio X7 problem
There is something definitively wrong, either with W7 or with VS X7. During the installation and several times also in the past the whole system crashes - blue screen. Something like this I never had since probably the VS 4 from Ulead ( and several other video programs under W Milleneum.
The VS X6 works fine, but today the installation of the VS X7 crashes almost every times. As before after the VS cleanup my VS X6 did not work I reinstalled the VS X6 and made a DVD ( with ISO) the film itself is now OK but the menu page is missing and no - one of the players can find it. On the top I can play only the first film ( there are 3 more short episodes).
In the ISO file there is the vob file with the menu, but from the DVD it cannot be played.
After that I tried to install the VS X7 what created the blue screen and these messages:
Interestingly now the VS X6 works and I can also burn a DVD.
The missing menu page was probebly blocked by antivirzs ( I forgot it to deactivate). The second copy seems to be OK. Now only the VS X7 is the problem.

Re: videostudio X7 problem
For some reason I am not able to reinstall the VS X7.
It starts normally , I enter the user name and the SN. It starts to install the DirectX and the C++ application, but at some time (at 53% on the first attempt, at 3% on the second one) generates an error:
Error 1335. Cabinet file is missing or corrupt
When I repeat or ignore, it generates the next critical error:
Error 2350. FDI server error.
This definitively stops the installation and removes many of the installed files and icons from the desktop.
I several times cleaned up the VS X7, no improvement.
The VS X6 works normally. ( of course I cannot open the projects made with X7 in the VS X6....
).

Hi
You mentioned in another post “I will talk next week to some PC guys maybe they will have some idea what to do.”
Did you mention the Blue Screen issue to them.?
I did a google search which seems to indicate a driver or hardware problem.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthepro ... errors.htm
As I said in the other post I doubt if Video Studio is the sole culprit.
Certainly you have a problem with your computer.
You could try asking Corel on their facebook pages, which are staffed by Corel employees.
Maybe others on the forum can comment on the BlueScreen failure?
Your Projects.
If you zip them and attach to your post I will re-open and save for X6 and return them to you…
I wont be able to see the contents as I don’t have the files, but can re-save.

Re: videostudio X7 problem
Hi
I assume you are trying to install the 64bit version.
I have run a few tests to see if I can help.
First what size is your downloaded installation file?
My file is called (VSX7_Ultimate_PF_x64.exe) and 2.004,378kb
Corel may have changed these files so we may not be able to compare.
OK
I deleted this folder Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\
I then ran the installation file, deselected "Launch Installation when Save is complete" so only the installation files were extracted here:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 Setup Files
The folder size, right click properties, shows as size:- 1.96 (2.109,895,467 bytes)
Again we may not be able to compare but worth a go……….

Re: videostudio X7 problem
Thanks guys.
I gave the PC to the experts to investigate what may be the problem. I did the same steps like you. I can tell you more after the return of my PC.

Re: videostudio X7 problem
My PC passed all tests ( two days) in the professional PC service (without the VS X7). Now they will try to install the VS X7. I hope the best..... For Corel
During the installation of the VS x7 they detected a faulty RAM module. Interestingly this fault had no influence for the vS X6 neither for other programs (GoPro studio and Corel Draw/Paint ) on the same HW. I will see if the replacement really helps.

Re: videostudio X7 problem
I have got back my PC, they replaced 2 RAM modules and the installation of the VS X7 Ult was easy and without any problem.
I edited one of my short film and rendered . Everything works now much faster and smoother than before. Interestingly the first AVCHD rendering finished correctly but after that the VS X7 crashed (the program not responding, must be closed). After that I opened it again and rendered the film also for DVD this time without any incident.
The projects folder is now on C drive (SSD), the original is on D, while the finished film is on I drive. I will do some more tests in the next days, but right now it works quite acceptable.
