I am using a project format of AVCHD but will be burning a standard DVD.
Do I select 1920x1080 in the Create proxy when video size is above field or
720x576 .

The video proxy options-should they be lower field first ?

Hi

Proxy files are used to improve playback within the program.

Generally slower pc’s will require the use of proxy files.

Your pc looks quite good so you may not need to activate Smart Proxy.
Do you have any delays in playing the project from the timelines, jerky playback etc.?

Try working /editing without enabling proxy files. Does editing and playback work ok for you.

If you have to activate that option choose to use the Auto Generate proxy template (recommended)
Then you don't have to worry about settings.

I disabled smart proxy and had no delay or playback problems .I cut clips and used multi trim with same results as when SP was enabled, that is, all ok .So now my performance pref are
1 smart proxy disabled
2 Create proxy when video size is above 1929x1080 greyed out
3 Auto Generate proxy template (recommended) greyed out
4 Video proxy options mpeg files 24 bi t 720x576 25fps upper field 1st (DVD PAL) 16:9
Variable date rate 8000kbps max audio date rate 383 kbps Template and
Options boxes greyed out
5 Hardware decoder acceleration Enabled
6 Hardware encoder acceleration Enabled
7 Hardware acc. Optimisation Enabled
Is the above list that which can be recommended
