VS7 ultimate 4k productions don`t work

Post by jkallinen »

So I have been user of VS since 2002 when Ulead owned it. Upgrades more time then I care to count. My last VS version VS5 Ultimate. Well, now I have upgraded my computer to handle 4k and just
purchased a Dell 32" 4k monitor for $1800. Decided it was time upgrade VS and since I missed VS6 decided to full purchase price VS7 Ultimate. Big mistake. Can`t make any videos without it crashing
and yes I have in stalled SP1. I would really like to be able to produce 4k videos without it crashing at 2% produced every time I try. Does not matter if I making MP4 video or anything else, does the
the same thing. Sent in my service tag already and would like my money back since it won`t make any videos of any kind.

Will install VS5 again. And then search for a new 4k video production software other then Corel products.

Oh yes, my computer can more then handle 4k production.

Here is a sample of the 4k video uploaded to Youtube, would like to put together what I have captured that is far better. I used Bandacam that captures 4k video for this saved into mp4 video.
When that would not work, I set bandacam to make them AVI h.264 and still the same issue when trying to put video clips together. Would have to save after each action before a crash again.
Took me 5 hours to get a 90sec video together and go to save as a 4k video and instant crash after it would start production.

I had troubles with some 4K files also, but Corel has a patch that solved my problem and perhaps it will solve yours. See this very recent thread for the link to the patch.

The quality is certainly superb. But do you by any chance have a Dropbox or similar account where you can upload that sample and we can download it for testing?

Jim, place the original UT clip for us to download as all I can get from UT is a 15MB HD version.

Thanks Ken, just signed up for a dropbox account. But had troubles this morning loosing access to my browsers while searching for and installing some bogus FTP software I was going to use to upload.
should have known better its filled with those search engines that hijack your browsers. Took all morning to clean house and get my Avast re-installed.

this is an updated clip not an mp4 I had uploaded to the tub, this is an AVI h.264 , but they still won`t work in VS7.

Downloaded your clip and imported into VSX7, no issues with playback in either project mode or clip mode

Selected Share/ AVC/H.264 then selected AVC 4k (3840x2160,60p,65Mbps) project rendered in a few minutes without any problems.

Thanks Robert for sharing your info, obviously I must have something corrupted within VS7 for this to keep happening to mine. Customer service emailed me back and I sent them a complete computer history
with some programs they had me run. Hopefully this will shine a light on the conflict with VS7. I have 6 clips already stitched together after trimming and adding transitions and text with a soundtrack already
saved that took me to long since it kept crashing. Really hate having to save after changing something everytime. Tried it with your settings and after share it gets to the same crash point as before. 1%.

I also was able to run the clip and render it.
But I had to set the project settings manually, for some strange reason "first clip settings" works here only ~50% of the times.

Since no help has come as of yet from my service request, decided to research this error. After a little looking around I found I had this same error years ago
with VS. NTdll errors. Little google research and decided to un-install VS7 altogether. Even install files. Will wait for a bit after look through all my error logs
and conflicts from the reports sent in to Corel. Might be able to find it quicker.

I believe I have found my problem. Have 5 internal hard drives and the one I keep Win7 Ult on has become unstable. Have had numerous crashes lately with not only VS but many other
programs. Have been busy moving all important data to newer drives getting ready to format the old drive and use for storage. Have a clean new 1tb drive ready to install Win7 Ult on.
Just need to remember in the bios how to change boot orders and drive letters. Should take a few hours before finding out how it goes.

Turns out I was right, all is well now and I can finally render 4k mp4 videos. Have one in the processor right now and have never seen VS7 get to 18%. It always crashed at at 1 or 2%. So far so good. Will post it
for you to check out when done.

Thanks for the help all.
Regards,
Jim
