Here under a link to a 100fps XAVC (mp4)f ile from the Sony FDR CX900. I want to slow it down, but VSX7 stops when putting it onto the timeline. No problems with simular XAVC files (25 and 50p).Thx for any advise.

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Hi erdna
Adding the video to the top track caused VS X7 to crash.
After a few attempts……….
Adding to the library seemed ok as did adding to the Overlay Track
From the overlay track I copy and place to the top track.
I was then able to use Speed/Timelapse to set the playback at 50%
Then render to Same as Project Properties with those set to 50P
Total run duration is now 1 minute 7 sec
I do not think VS X7 supports 100fps, certainly I was unable to set that option.

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
It works perfectly well in my VSX7 on XP adding it strait to the timeline.
I'm able to slow it down to 10% to 333 seconds . Rendering it to 25fps 1280X720 mp4, took ~3minutes and cpu ~75%.
But the ball is still blurred while jumping.
** But indeed VSX7 do not support 100fps, if you apply 25% speed and you jump the project frame by frame you will see only 4th frame is actually changing.

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Hi
I did manage to add this to VS X6 without crashes, strange why X7 fails? At least for some ….
Post Updated
Out of interest I tried creating a Ulead Image Sequence, again vs did not support 100fps so only ripped half the frames.
A free software called FreeVideo to Jpeg Converter did the job saving 3360 jpegs, one for each frame.
Add these to a 50P project at 1 frame per image and I have a video playing at 50% , duration 1 min 7sec 9 frames.
All frames play, no dropped frames and no duplicates
Add the images to a 25P frames project and the Slow Mo is quite good, 2 minutes + playback.

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Thanks a lot Trevor. I think yr idea with the image sequence is the right one. Adding to the overlay track and copying to the upper track works, but the resulting slowmo starts from 50fps (no longer 100fps). So a 50% resduction @50p has only 25 refreches (new frames)/sec, loosing the 100fps advantage for slowmo.

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Hi
Using Video Studio to change the speed to 50% will slowdown the playback by adding duplicate frames, playing back with original frame rate.
If you rip all frames to an image, we can re-construct to playback at 50 or 25fps, that will play all frames at a slower rate, no duplicates.
Unfortunately VS will not rip the video using 100fps. we will lose frames.
I will provide the sample I made at 25% playback, give me a little time to upload

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
FWIW, the original clip also causes an error which closes X7 when inserted in the main timeline. Like Trevor, though, it works when I insert it in an overlay track. In Clip mode, it then appears to skip frames and looks erratic on screen. In Project mode, it plays much more smoothly, though I note that Project Properties are set to 30 fps and not 100. I did not get a message asking to match the Project Properties to those of the clip.
Like Trevor, I could also copy the clip in the overlay track and then insert the copy in the main track. But when I dragged the copy up to the library window, created a New Project and tried to drag it into the timeline, it crashed X7 again.

X7 -- Strange how different approaches adding to the timeline causes a crash.
As I said no problem with X6

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Ken, I also got the strange and unrelated 30fps instead of 100fps. Maybe when X8 comes and will have some XAVC compatibility, it will accept 100/120fps...
In the mean time Trevor's ideo using the image sequence is a perfect work-around for me. Thanks Trevor

Re: 100fps XAVC stops VX7
Very strange,
I was booting to 7 today, so I retried the 100p clip. I still have no problem at all adding it to VSX7 timeline I'm getting no errors or crashes. But... I also do not get the "1'st clip setting" msg. No matter how hard I tried, it never showed in relation to this clip.
*** well after extensive fiddling finely VSX7 crashed!!!
the crash relates to uvMP4Drv.dll
$$$$ I deleted the UPX proxy file and I'm back to business with the clip.
