The R G B L readings on the status bar do not correspond with those that I see in other eyedropper tools.
1. What do they mean?
2. How can I see normal readings? So that, for example a patch which is L 50 in Lab appears as L 50 on the status bar?
Status - R G B L readings - what do they mean?

L is luminance, not Lab, if it where lab it would be "a b L" and not "R G B L".
Lab readings are not normal. RGB readings are. Especially in a program that does not provide a Lab working space.

Many thanks for your reply, afx?
What puzzles me is this:
In the free eyedropper reader, Pixie, I get the same readings as in Photoshop, but different readings for the same patch in CAS.
For example:
Pixie G 110, Photoshop G 110, CorelAfterShot G 177
Pixie G 181, Photoshop G 181, CorelAfterShot G 219
What is the reason for this difference?

It all depends on the working space. AS uses linear Prophoto, you cant' compare that to an sRGB or Adobe RGB readout.
If you click on the color rectangle next to the readout, you can toggle linear/gamma, that also influences it.

Thanks again, afk.
That little square did wonders. I had indeed got it set up as sRGB. However after I took your hint and selected 'linear' the readings matched those from Pixie and Photoshop.
