Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit
Intel Xeon 2.13 GHz
6GB RAM
VideoStudio X6
I've been a faithful user for some time and have been running VideoStudio X4 then X6 on this PC for several years.
Out of the blue, VideoStudio X6 started crashing when I launch it. While I haven't explicitly installed anything on this PC that would knowingly interfere with this software, my Windows updates are up to date.
All I can get the software to do now is throw up the message:
The program has encountered an unspecified error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis.
I've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the software, no change.
It looks like the only support I can get is paid support, which doesn't make me happy.
I just want to know what the DMP files say and maybe it is something I can fix myself.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike in Ottawa

Oh, I checked to see if there were any new updates for this version, but the link is dead.

I don't think that any one on here knows how to read .dmp files - if you find out we would be pleased to know.
I have no problem accessing the update patches page from your link

Re: VideoStudio X6 started crashing on startup, DMP files.
If the problem is associated with maybe a corrupt clip in the library then that may cause the program to fail.
If you are able to run the program go to Settings – Library Manager – Reset Library.
You may wish to Export Library, just in case you wish to restore the library
If you cannot run X6 at all Try to Reset the program.
Go to :-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\16.0
Rename the folder 16.0 to “16.0copy”
Now start VS X6, this will recreate the 16.0 folder.
Re-installing the program does not remove all folders, unless you perform a Clean Install.
Corel do provide a Cleanup file that may remove all program files, attached
Running the program without the service packs should not cause it to crash

BRILLIANT!
That worked. Obviously I have something nasty lurking in my 16.0 folder.
Thank you very much!
