Write to disk with 2.13TB free says no space available

Post by dwwaddell »

When I try to save an HTML5 project to a 3TB disk with 2.13TB of free space X7 thinks there is no space.

I may be being thick here, but does X7 make HTML5 files?
Are you sure you mean HTML5?
I thought that was writing code for web pages?

Graham -- HTML5 was first introduced with VS X5. See for example this statement made at the time X5 came out:
Corel today introduces the latest iteration of their popular video editing software VideoStudio Pro. In version X5, VideoStudio Pro now supports HTML5 for easier online video embedding, stop-motion recording with Canon DSLRs, 50p/60p video editing and the integration of multi-layered PaintShop Pro graphics into the video.

If you look in VS (X7), you will see under File > New HTML5 Project... There are also a number of HTML5 templates available on Do More...

That being said, I have never used it, and doubt I ever will. Thus I have no way of being able to help dwwaddell with his problem.

I never used it also, but it's ez to try. I downloaded the HTML5 template IP-01
when I render it to HTML5 I see on the left side "estimate output size : 109MB"
we don't know how large the project in question and maybe the "no space available" is render work space and not final project space.

(rendering is terribly slow on my system, just rendering the unaltered ~135 seconds IP-01 will take more than 30 minutes)

You guys are missing the point. Forget about HTML5. The problem is the write. I was able to write the file successfully on a disk with under 2TB free.

That is over 2 Terabytes free - 2130GB free space and it says no disk space available.

I don't mean to insult you, but did you change the destination when Sharing the project (creating the html5 file)? I have forgotten to change the destination before and perhaps that is the explanation for your problem... Al

A variant on Al's question: did you change the working folder for Video Studio? It is by default on C:\Users\[Your Name]\Corel\VideoStudio Pro... The working folder is, as its name implies, where temporary files are created and used during a conversion process. If your C:\ drive is small or pretty full, then there may not be enough space for the temporary files created during the HTML 5 conversion. You can change the working folder to, say, your big F:\ drive in Settings > Preferences > General. And there is another one you need to change in the burning module under Preferences in the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen. It does not change automatically when you change the first one, and becomes relevant if you are burning a disc -- there has to be enough room on the working folder disc for the temp files generated during the burning process.

Can you write other file types produced from X7 to your plus 2TB drive?
I see it is NTFS, but as you can write the same HTML5 file to a drive of under 2TB, we need to look at what the differences are in the drives.
I don't have a plus 2TB drive to test, mine are all 2TB raid.

I have lots of space everywhere and have no problem writing to my E: drive (which has 1.20TB free space), with the same project.

If I change the project to "Create a video that you can play on a computer", I can write to the same drive.

Well, I take that back. Even though X7 created the folder (including Contents) and went through the rendering process, it wrote nothing in the folder, nor did it complain.

Actually, the file was written to the Project Folder as an MPG.
