Hi,
Most of the digital camera these days can take the video and they are stored in avi format - I guess, with most of them encoded dobly digital sound track in that single file.
When I burn that file in my dvd : I noticed few things
1. The quality is that fantastic, there are still noise there
2. Sound does not come at all.....
what I'm missing here.....
I'm using DVD Movie Factory 3.5
Pioneer DVR-A09XL with latest firmware 1.57 I guess
Can somebody tell me step by step, how to do this
thx
AVI files burning pain - is it doable

Your version probably does not support Dolby Sound. You may need to upgrade to version 4. http://www.ulead.com/oem/moviefactory/configuration.htm

Can you post what you are trying to do.
Are you using a digital DV camcorder and connecting via firewire?
How are you connecting the camera/camcorder to the computer?
What is your source material.? DV tapes or DVD handycam etc.
Are you creating a CD or a DVD? (VCD/SVCD or DVD)
How fast is your machine?
Are you using MF3.5 Disc Creator full version
or MF3.5 Standard?

I'm using Sharp VE 40 digital camera which has SD card in it
How are you connecting the camera/camcorder to the computer?
USB 2.0
What is your source material.? DV tapes or DVD handycam etc.
source is avi files generated by digital camera. The camera can connect directly to TV and I can watch those captured videos, but I wanted to burn them in DVD

Use Firewire if you have it...
I had issuess with my transfer through USB - mine were more with the video. But as soon as I started using the firewire, everything came in perfect, so i would suggest going that route if you can.

First off your trying to convert short video clips recorded
on a camera SD card to dvd.
The camera your using records MONO audio and the video is in
one of the avi formats. The resulting video will only be poor/fair in
comparision to a true DV camcorder (which is what MF is geared for).
With the video on the timeline in MF can you "Right-Click" on the
video and select "Properties".
Then post the properties back on the forum.
We need to know the properties that MF is reporting the file to be.
You may be better off creating a VCD (Video CD).
Your camera is creating 320 x 240 framesize videos with mono audio.
So you can also create a VCD and use a CD instead of a DVD.
If you want to convert to a DVD then the NTSC setting of:
Aspect_Ratio = 4:3
Frame Size = 352 x 240
FrameRate = 29.97
Video_Bit_Rate = Constant 2500
Framebased
Audio = Lpcm 16bit 48000 Mono
To use the above settings for DVD you would click on the "Gear" icon
on the bottom of the page.
Then select "Change Mpeg Settings"
-> Customize
You can also use the pre-defined template for 180minutes.
Hope this helps,
