X7 - a few other usability issues

Post by edwinn »

Here are some observations from yesterday's X7 trails.

1) Cannot invoke Print dialog from thumbnails in ORGANIZER, either by Ctrl+P or from Context Menu (right-mouse over thumbnail). Print dialog does not display filename of image. Print Placement radio buttons always default to "Center on page" even though "Fit to page" is desired. Generally the current image filename is NOT displayed enough!!

2) In applying repeat Histogram Adjust, settings applied are % (percent) Low and High, not intensity code (0-255) Low and High.

3) Context menu of Image Preview (right-mouse) in Manage Tab brings up background color selection, not useful commands.

4) I'm ALWAYS looking/searching for some INFO display that will reveal the FILESIZE and DATE/TIME stamp of an image. This drives me nuts! When hovering over an image in Preview, why hot have a pop-up display with this info? as Organizer thumbnails do?

5) There's still a LOT of wasted space on the Info palette, especially the General tab, which requires dragging the view very wide.

6) When working with multiple images, it's useful to see the FILENAME displayed on or near the image. many times the filename is hidden. Also, long filenames often don't display well.

Generally the coding is getting better, but MORE usability features are needed.

Sorry.. replying to own post.

Let's put it in simple terms. What I'd like to see for a FILE INFO popup box when mousing-over an image in both Preview and Edit mode, when in Pan-Tool mode is.. (at a minimum) FILENAME, FILESIZE in KB, and FILESIZE in pixels.

One can get confused when working multiple images, which often requires a back-step to figure out "what is this image" and also from what folder? i.e. Path?
