Digital Juice Products

Post by DaisyK »

I have asked before if anyone uses the Digital Juice products with VideoStudio and no one here does. I really like what they have to offer and would like to use what I have more correctly. Of course their tutorials are for other video editing products and I have looked at some of them, but I really want to stay with VideoStudio! So I need to learn and I don't know exactly how to go about it.

They have a product that I experimented with today but cannot get it to work as it is suppose to. Their demo shows that you "drop" it on top of a video segment and then adjust the density (at least that is what it seems to me).

There is an example and the application of the "blend mode" here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcYE44b_bHw
Does VideoStudio have a blend mode? It doesn't work on top of a clip, and it doesn't work in another track... I sure wish some of you smart users would make me some tutorials on how to use their products! They told me none of their users use VideoStudio so they don't do tutorials for us.

Any suggestions?

I don't recall you asking, but I know at least one of our regulars does use Digital Juice products -- however, I can't recall if it is DVD Doug or Black Lab. Hopefully one of them might see your post and comment.

But looking at that quick video, it seems that the blend mode simply uses the Digital Juice file, which appears to be a Quicktime video file. I think you will find that you have Quicktime on your computer installed with VS. As such, you will have the necessary codec to play the Quicktime file. You would then drop your own video in the main VS timeline, and insert the Quicktime blend video in one of the overlay tracks. Playing it back in Project mode should show you a similar effect to that achieved in the DJ video. If it is satisfactory, you can then render a new video with the DJ effect applied to your video. But hopefully either DVD Doug or Black Lab will be able to confirm.

Fantastic! I hope I can connect with whoever it is so I can at least ask questions as I go along.

I tried what you explained but the DJ file totally covered my video file (cannot see through it) and then when the timeline reached the end of the DJ file, then my video showed. I am doing some wedding/reception video and some of their pieces would really enhance. I have tried to get help from DJ but they tell me they cannot help with VideoStudio.

Thank you Ken and to anyone who can help.

DJ works great in VS and MSP. If you get on the DJ forum you will find tutorials for Ulead/Corel. In short, you should render the DJ file to an uncompressed avi and insert it into your project.
