Hello:
I was wondering if it is possible to add animated GIFS that were not created in PI to a PI created web page. I have tried using the Obect - Insert Image - From File option. The image is inserted but loses its animation properties. Can you help with this
Thank you

Try this, the long way around, but should solve your problems:
Go to File\Preferences\General\ in the Preferences Dialog Box under Categories\Open & Save\GIF Settings\ in the GIF Settings Dialog Box, under Open Options, check the List Item named Open Each Frame as an Object, click OK to accept changes. Open your other Application created GIF in PI, check to make sure it works, and then save in the PI GIF format. Load the new GIF into your Web Page.
If that dosen't work then open the other Apps GIF in GIF Animator make changes and then save; make the above changes to PI and then try to load into your Web Page.

Animated Gifs
Hello Keenart:
Thank you for your rapid response. I tried your first suggestion but, no go. When I open the GIF it starts its animation and then stops. I saved it as a PI GIF but no luck there either. Unfortunately I have never successfuly been able to open GIF Animator. I get a windows error message every time I try. That's why I wanted to use already created animations, I can't create my own.
If you have another suggestion, I would appreciate it.

Given there are problems with your system in using gif or the gif animator, are you sure your gif doesn't play on another machine? After all, a gif is a gif, any browser will play a gif animation if it is animated and the browser settings do not prohibit the execution. Whether you create a web site with PI, Frontpage or whatever program you can come up with, once it is compiled into html, it is completely application independend. Different browsers may give you different results but appart from that?
I think you have a problem with your PC and need to fix that rather than trying to find a work around for you animation problem.

GIF Animator can have two problems on some systems.
Delete or rename uvavi.vio file in the "<Program Install Path>\VIO" folder.
However, features related to AVI file would be lost.
When installing GA Animator on an XP system with a missing or corrupted autoexec.nt file, a crash may occur.
To copy the Autoexec.nt file from the Repair folder to the System32 folder, perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start button, right-click My Computer, and then click Explore. (Note: For Microsoft Windows XP systems running in "Classic mode", right-click My Computer on the desktop and then click Explore)
2. The My Computer explorer window appears.
3. In the left pane, click the [+] sign next to your primary local hard drive.
This is normally your C: drive.
4. In the left pane, click the [+] next to the Windows install directory. (Note: For most systems, this is the Windows folder. On some client systems, this is the WINNT folder.)
5. In the left pane, scroll down and click the Repair folder.
6. In the right pane, right-click autoexec.nt and click Copy from the menu that appears.
7. In the left pane, scroll down and click the System32 folder.
8. In the right pane, right-click on any blank space inside the window and click Paste.
Try both of these workarounds to see if you can get GIF Animator working to create your own GIFs.

Animated Gifs
Hello heinz-oz
Thank you for your help. I hadn't thought of it that way. When I preview my web page in PI the animations do not show so I assumed they did not work. As soon as I get a free minute I will try to upload my page with animations and see if they work. I will let you know.
Hello Keenart
I tried your second solutions with no luck. Would I have to reboot my machine for the change to take effect? I was not sure what you meant by your first option and how it would affect other projects. I have noticed there are many postings on this forum from people who seem to have the same problem. I need to take some time to read through and see what other options I have. Thank you for your help
