cant get capture image icon to activate in capture tab

Hi Guys. Im a little new to the game so forgive me if this query seems stupid.

I want to capture stills from a live (realtime) video feed in Video Studio 7, but the capture image icon remains "unavailable" (grayed). How do i get it working?

You have to actually capture the video to a file before you can convert a frame to a still image. Set the still image format in the menu File/Preferences.

Not true -- UVS can capture still images from a live video feed.

If the Capture option is disabled, make sure that you select the appropriate capture plugin, i.e. the Ulead DirectShow plugin if you intend to use a video card with VIVO capabilities, DV for FireWire capture from a MiniDV camcorder etc.

What type of capture device do you have? Does it require / come with special drivers?

How in the world would one select a frame to capture from live video?

You don't get to select a specific frame, it captures the current frame as a still.
