Crashes whilst creating a proxy file

Hi,

Recently my Ultimate x7 has been crashing whilst only making proxy files. Anyone else had this? I convert to proxy 1080/25p AVCHD files to MPEG 2 6000kbps

I've checked the following - internet off, no background activities, CPU meters moving from 70-90%, no editing/project work going on. Previously I could take dozens of clips collectively, queue up the proxy conversions and walk away from the computer. I used to move multiples files for conversion before going to bed and was ready to start a new project the next morning. But on return random crashes with a dmp file are being reported and I lose ALL the good proxys previously created!

I can't find a pattern - It has happened in clips only 2 minutes long or sometimes 30mins long or whether I move clips to timeline or library. My only suspicion is that the computers gets overworked if working for a sustained period of time, but I cant prove that's the fault.

At this stage, I cautiously move 1-3 files at a time for proxy conversion and then close down VSP to preserve my proxy files. This too time consuming.

Any help please?

I'm afraid I've nothing to suggest regarding your main problem. But as for the DMP file, there is no point sending it to this forum as no one here works for Corel or knows how to interpret those DMP files.

Yep I had a problem when using Smart Proxy with mpeg2 type files.

Don’t think there was a solution other than using the default settings, but then that creates large files??

Hi Brian,

These are random crashes when creating the proxy files in the first place! I was going to send the dmp file to Corel so they can at least look at it and fix it.

I'll have a look at setting for creating the proxy. Speed or settings might be causing it.
