I am shooting solo violin performances in ACVHD with my Canon XA20 video camera, files are .mts. In VS7 Ultimate I get pops and weird sounds making VS7 Ultimate useless. None of this happens in VS 6. I feel kind of ripped off in that I can't use VS7 Ultimate that I purchased. Shooting in MPEG4 causes same program to crash, grrrrr.
Anyone else had that problem? Any ideas or just use X6 and wait and see what X8 brings? Should I put something about this in the X8 wish list?
thanks as always,
Candy

Re: VS7 Ultimate Audio Pops
Hi Candy
If my memory serves me well I think you have mentioned this before.
Can you provide us with a sample….
Are you able to create a Smart Package of your project, maybe create a shorter project that has this audio problem?
Zip the Smart Package and add to a sharing site, One Drive from Microsoft will do that, part of One Live.com?
Provide a sharing link to your post.
We can then view the project to see your edits and what is actually happening, and indeed compare the project with X6.

Re: VS7 Ultimate Audio Pops
Trevor: Here is the link to shortened project in One Drive: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1 ... file%2czip
Pops are most noticeable at around minutes 1:00 and 1:18 to around 1:20. I also hear other faint pops throughout.
The audio was "shared" as audio file from the video so that I could do some audio editing on it using another program. If you unmute the video and mute the audio track you can also hear the same pops.
I don't get this audio interference using VS 6.
Rendering the project to a movie file does not get rid of the audio problem.
Thanks so much for your help.

Re: VS7 Ultimate Audio Pops
Hi Candy
First impressions…..
I do not have a problem with that project, the audio plays ok without any pops.
Maybe a problem with your computers audio installation, drivers etc.
I do have a few comments regarding the project.
1 /
The video is MTS using 59.94 fps 1920 x 1080
For future work if you are intending to create a Bluray Disc or DVD you should record using 29.97 fps 1920 x 1080
2 /
The project properties are using 720 x 480, 29.97 fps, these should be HD 1920 x 1080 x 59.94
At the moment the project is playing 29fps not 59.94 fps, although that does not seem to affected the sound quality.
I have modified the project to use HD and attached the VSP to this post.
Let us know if that project plays back ok.
Set up the program to automatically match the project properties to your video file.
Go to F6 – set show Messages when inserting first Video
I will run through the project again being a little more critical to see if I can find anything I have missed?

Trevor:
Thanks so much for your help with this. I couldn't get the project you sent me to relink but what I did was set the properties on my original to HD 1920x1080 x 59.94 and it is playing with no audio problem.
In the future I will record using 29.97 fps 1920 x 1080 as you said. I will be aware in the future of setting project properties to match the video.
I went to F6 and clicked show messages but can you tell me what that does?
Thanks again for your help. I think my problem is solved.

Re: VS7 Ultimate Audio Pops
Hi Candy
Show Messages
The program will automatically set the Project Properties to match the video file used provided the video is suitable/compliant.
The message will show when inserting the first compliant clip, however if the project properties are already set correctly then the message will not show as it is not required, and as far as I know the program uses the last project properties used for new projects, so they could be correct.
As a test
Start a new project
Drag the library sample SP-VO2.mp4 to the timeline
The message window will show,
Choose Details, the right hand panel shows the video properties which will be used to set the properties.
Repeat the process, Start a new project—now add one of your MTS clips, again view the details.
If you were to try again, start a new project, drag a WMV to the timeline, “no message” as we cannot set WMV for project properties.
Hope that makes sense….
In most cases you are best to set the project properties to match the video files being used.

Re: VS7 Ultimate Audio Pops
Thanks again Trevor, yes what you explain makes sense and I think all my audio problems have been because the project properties were not matching the video.
Really appreciate your help.
