Paint brush and/or Clone brush draws line every time

Corel-paint 12.

When attempting to paint or clone the cursor never places the brush where I am pointing. It always puts it off and up to the left at a diagnol and draws/paints a solid line from there to where I clicked. So when using the paint function I click where I want to paint and all of sudden appears a line painted (in whatever shape or opacity if have chosen) at a diagnol. About 2" long...( I know thats subjective but)... So I have tried resetting all the setings, masking un masking.. but can't find anything that would cause it to draw a diagnol line.

when using the clone brush.. It captures a diagnol area and pastes it where I choose to apply the clone. So instead of a round dot area or a square area I get a long diagnol line complete with the entire clone area of the 2" diagnol..

I thought maybe the program was confused with dual monitors as sometimes the right hand of the number 1 monitor makes it hard to use a mouse pointer becuase of slight overlap when the desktops are extended. But that made no difference. I thought maybe PP doesn't support 2560 x 1440 so I went down in res. and no difference. I considered the dual montior issue so I went back to single monitor setting, to no avail..

any suggestions.. I appreciate the help.. really makes the program pretty much useless. By the way I also tried my drawing pen instead of the mouse and same problem...

Note that this is Corel PaintShop Pro not Corel Paint. Are you in the right forum? Or do you mean Corel PaintShop Pro X2 ?

Yes I meant photo paint 12 corel.. can't believe I wrote the other.. lol.. thanks.. Now to try the couple suggestions made.. thanks..

for some reason I never knew corel made paintshop pro.. always had in my head that adobe only made that.. so I just learned something.. I am using corel 12 corel-photo-paint 12... hmmmmmm,,, still never had this problem before..

Do you mean you are using Corel Painter 12 or PhotoImpact 12?

Adobe make Photoshop.

Corel - PaintShop Pro now X7 and Corel Draw X7 which contains PhotoPaint.

There is also Corel Painter Lite which used to be Painter Essentials.
