Try clicking on the opacity slider then roilling the mouse wheel. This works with so many of the tools - activate the thing you want to change and then roll the mouse wheel for fine control.

As it is, I guess at the selection criteria (color, brightness, etc.) and the tolerance, and I make the selection. If it isn't adequate I then deselect all, change the criteria or tolerance and reselect. And so it is back and forth and back and forth. It would be useful if having once made the selection I could then change the tolerance or criteria and then the selection could be recomputed. This way I could refine the selection by tweaking the parameters and skip redrawing.
On your layers palette top left you can edit selection and then brush in extra areas or remove . coloe brightness suggests that you are referring to the magic wans here and as you develop skills you can quickly work out which will give you the best selection followed by edit selection.

While the blend mode list is displayed, mousing over the mode would bring up a small preview window showing the effect or better show the effect in the main edit window. As it is, you guess at a blend, click it, go back try another, go back try another, etc.
Again click the blend mode an roll the mouse wheel and it will roll through each of the other blend modes. This is also good for choosing the appropriat font with the text tool.

Why in the world do we not have the option to zoom in and out to the mouse cursor position with the scroll wheel the way it was in X3?
It is a huge hassle to have to stop what I'm doing and use the scroll bars.
I keep checking each new version to see if this has been fixed but it still hasn't.
I will not upgrade until this is fixed!

Couldn't agree more! X1 was the version were it started to go wrong. We used to just roll the wheel out and back in after moving the cursor and you could get pixel perfect right to the edge of the working window. No need to go off the work space to move side bars and then again and again as you work around the side of the working window. The larger the work space the worse it is. Using 4K it's painful.

Sorry you missed the point. I'd suggest you read the posts, both of them again.

Thanks much hartpaul. It's painful to think of all the time I've spent going back and forth when a simple click and wheel was all that was needed.
I use curves as one of my main tools. It would be helpful to click on a tone in the photo and have an indicator appear on the curve line to show where that tone was located. Thanks.

I'll second that. That is a small feature of PS which makes use of the curves adjustment so easy. I avoid using curves and rely on levels for just that reason as currently when using the curves it is a bit hit and miss - move an area and try and see what change it makes and if you like it or not. When you want to lighten a certain area you have to guess its current brightness and then try and estimate that position on the curves line.
I have used curves for some psychedelic effects. Try an M or W curve or a double sine wave.

Although i don`t use the Manage mode, i tested and i was able to add multiple tags to photos or other files. I might use it more if i could use the search feature and use more than one tag (ex: Mom, Disney, 2000)

I believe in the vain of keeping the performance of Paint Shop Pro the best, I believe Corel should move the "Manage" and "Adjust" to their own separate apps and not built in to PSP. Hopefully this should help improve the performance and speed when you just want to edit a photo, which is what I believe most people use PSP for (and not really a browser, organizer). So why not just load those apps, only when you're going to use them. They can still be bundled with PSP, just not lumped into one big app.
That being said, a search feature and multiple tags would be nice.

As Klindar wrote below - RAW developing (Lab) is extremaly pure (and not really improved even in PSP X7 ) - this would be great if it may be similar to Camera RAW nevertheless AfterShot is available.
it is not my aim to compare PSP to Adobe but the truth is that If you consider Adobe PS (or PS Elements) Camera RAW is present nevetheless Adobe LR is available.
PSP is really GREAT and such change/improvement would be very welcome by the PSP users and may pass Adobe users too.
Best wishes,
mk
Klindar wrote:Top priority for me would be an over-haul of color management. While I can do most of the things with your CM "as is", it is awkward and a couple of things are broken:
1 - Do away with having to close all images when changing Color Working Space. Of course, this would require some sort of policy specification re what to do about images having the color rug pulled out from under them but ... you asked;-)
2 - Report all image color spaces. Presently, this is usually left blank in image information and I have to use a different program to display this.
3 - For RAW files, report the camera's native color space (the way Capture One does ... for example "Generic D800").
4 - If I shoot in Adobe RGB, PSP seems not to recognize my preference to "Use Embedded Profiles" and applies the Working Color space. Not really sure what happens, actually, but it's not right. I almost always work from RAW/NEF files so this is a minor issue - but maybe not for some others.
5 - The RAW Lab is weak. We need more sliders (as an example) for things like highlight and shadow recovery, rather than presets. Furthermore the displayed image is too small.
I realize you are trying to provide a simplified, more readily understood approach to CM but those of us who have migrated from Adbobe CS, at least, would really welcome a "Pro" CM option ... more like what's in CS.
6 - I use scripting a lot and much prefer it to Adobe "Actions". There is, however, a problem when a script is resizing an image in "Silent" mode only - the aspect ratio of the image is often not preserved even if you specified this.
I have workarounds for all of this except item "1" but they are irritating. I'd be delighted to get just a couple of things in the next iteration ... 1, 2 and 6 being top of the list.
PSP is fantastic. Coming from the PS/CS world I have no problem saying PSP is the better product for the way I work and I have been a photog for 50 years.
I have been using PSP since its early DOS days (1989/1990 ..., and now on X4), but often times I find myself needing to use other products for certain tasks.
I have not found enough improvement to convince me to upgrade from X4 to anything newer.
For a wishlist,
1) I'd love to see big and serious improvements to TEXT and its manipulation, and make it SIMPLE.
2) The user guide (or local help) needs to have a section, or even a chapter about MASKS, which are very poorly dealt with in X4's Help and the user's guide, along with EXAMPLES, and not left as little secrets to be discovered, especially by new comers.
Text from a Selection needs major simplification.
Also, to make text "Raised", or "Depressed", for example, should be a single click from a TEXT Dropdown Menu.
...
You got the idea.
Handling of text is not getting a fair attention, and really needs to be taken seriously before I would consider upgrading.
I got the ca$h, show me the real improvements, not the daily arm-twisting emails from the Marketing department .

I like the Manage and Edit to remain where they are, but I'm not sure about Adjust.
I can go quickly through viewing lots of images in a folder, even full screen, using Manage, and just click Edit when the right image is reached. Very simple, fast, and practical for me.
