Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
I wish!
You can save the custom workspace, and supposedly load it into the newer version.
But it can't work as some tools work differently in newer versions, so the custom workspace would/could never be accurate.

Thanks Joelle. Figured there'd have to be a glitch.Joelle wrote:I wish!

It would be nice if you could zoom in when the selection is active

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your issue, but I can zoom in when I have an active selection with both PSP 9 and PSP X7.Declan wrote:It would be nice if you could zoom in when the selection is active
P.S., Your profile doesn't say which version of Paint Shop Pro you are using.

Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
I think what they mean is that if you are using the edge seeker or point to point selection tools and are part way through your selection, you cannot zoom in to fine tune your selection . You can only zoom in / other shorcut keys become active when you have finished / closed your selection area.
Of course you can do a rough selection and then click the Edit Selection button top left of layers palette or do Selections > Edit Selection. You can then paint with white/ black to add remove from the selection, or use the eraser/ uneraser (left right mouse buttons) .
Strangely I found this broken in X6 ver 16.0 but this was fixed in one of the service packs and is active in 16.2

Ahh.... So by "active selection" the OP meant when you are still in the process of actively making your selection, rather than when you have a closed selection that is active with marching ants. The way I do it is to zoom in prior to starting my point-to-point or freehold selecting and then making the selection one piece at a time (with the "Add" option selected), closing each small piece within the area I want selected, then move the image and start another piece of the selection at the edge where I left off.hartpaul wrote:I think what they mean is that if you are using the edge seeker or point to point selection tools and are part way through your selection, you cannot zoom in to fine tune your selection . Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
1. One thing that REALLY annoys me, is when you open a .pspimage and it has several (or many) layers, it, by default opens ALL layers.
I would LOVE a way to COLLAPSE ALL layers with the touch of one or two buttons. I guess it may be possible, but I have never figured it out if so.
Even when selecting multiple layers and then collapsing doesn't work. If there is a way already, I'd appreciate anyone that can tell me how?
2. Add Layer Styles to Layer Groups. Not sure why it isn't on it already to be completely honest.

Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
In what way does it open all layers? Do you mean that all the layers are shown in the Layers Palette? If so, I'm not sure why that would be considered a problem, because I'd be kinda worried if I opened a layered pspimage and the layers didn't show up in the palette.stinky666 wrote:1. Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
I'd say he means "layer groups".
I've had the same issue for years with all versions of psp.
Photoshop opens the images as their saved. Open or closed.
I agree it's time this was fixed in psp. It's the whole reason to have layer groups in the first place, we don't need or wont to have to go down the whole list closing all the groups before starting to edit our projects. It is annoying!

Re: Wish list for Paint Shop Pro version X8
A lot of the items requested in wish lists for earlier versions, that have never been implemented.
Just one example: "merge to new layer", which would be a lot easier than having to duplicate a bunch of layers, make the originals not visible, and then "merge visible", then change back the visibilities of various layers.

Thanks. As they say, the devil is in the details. It helps if posters provide accurate descriptions, e.g., "layer groups" instead of "layers" when they mean the former. Had a similar misunderstanding in a previous post where a person said "active selection" when what was meant was "open selection". Just a thought.DPainter wrote:I'd say he means "layer groups".

I think the most annoying things that are now in this wish list are the "tools, functions, elements that used to work!" and no longer do.Rick_R wrote:A lot of the items requested in wish lists for earlier versions, that have never been implemented.
I refuse to use or bother even looking at X7. That version is just broken and not worth even trying to deal with. To many element that aren't working in that one.

I'm glad I am not the only one to find this to be extremely annoying. I do web design, and so I can have many layers, and layer groups. I end up having layer groups inside layer groups, too. Which means having to go close them all is annoying and a time waster, each time I open the .pspimage.
Apologies for not being clearer. I did intend to write "group" after "layer" in the message, but for some reason or another I didn't.JoeB wrote:Thanks. As they say, the devil is in the details.
