Manage thumbnail tooltips labeled incorrectly

Post by CWuestefeld »

I just upgraded to X7. I find that in Manage mode, when I hover my mouse over a thumbnail, the tooltip that's supposed to show the EXIF data is absurdly wrong. Here's a sample:
IMG_5730.JPG
RGB Sliders ----
CMYK Sliders 1/160Web Sliders
HSL Sliders Lightness4.0
Lab Sliders 0.00Brightness
The labels here are all messed up. Correlating to the real EXIF data it appears, for example, that where it's showing "CMYK Sliders" it should be showing "Exposure time", and where it's showing "Web Sliders" next to that, it should be "sec.". See attached screenshot.

This was literally the very first thing I was confronted with in the new version. Not a very good first impression.

I first thought it might be a problem with a directory that was originally scanned by X6, and the cached data format changed slightly. But experimentation shows that even when viewing a directory that had never been scanned before, the problem is the same.

Wot??!! You can't read that??
This is Corel's new feature and naming system.
Clearly RGB Sliders is the new name for ISO, CMYK Sliders is the new name for Shutter Speed in units of Web Sliders, and HSL Sliders Lightness is the new name for Aperture.
So translated into the old but goodie terms it is:
ISO 250
Shutter Speed 1/25 sec
Aperture 7.1
:D :D :D :D :D :D

I reported this as a bug during beta testing in June and again in August. No progress, obviously.

So I reported this bug to Corel support. They confirmed it as a bug, but 4 weeks later I haven't heard a peep from them about the status of fixing it.

I'm inches away from throwing up my hands going over to Adobe.

A bit late for that. After all these months of them never even replying to me, I've ditched PSP. I'm now using an Adobe photographer's subscription, with Lightroom and Photoshop.
