Still no Auto Music - VS9

Post by skiman123321 »

All of the options are greyed out in the auto music tab. I unistalled everything and deleted all the folders that tech support said to delete. Then I ran an adware / spyware check, a registry cleaning utility, disk cleanup, and defragged the drive. I restarted the computer and closed all running programs except explorer and systray. I reinstalled VS9 and the auto music still will not work. I also installed the quicktracks update 3.0.2.7 and that didn't help. What is so frustrating is that everything worked fine on the trial version.

I am running windows 98SE, with 512 meg of ram, and a 1gHz processor.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

Are you sure they are greyed out, I say that because they look greyed out when they are ok. Try clicking on the tab.
If not:-
In the install folder there should be two files for smart sound.

Full Spectrum 22k.exe

Quicktracks.exe

If you install these you should get the auto sound working.

Do you have Apple QuickTime 5 or later installed? It's a requirement, since SmartSound uses some of the underlying technology.

Yes the options really are greyed out. I installed Quick Time right from the installation cd. I am beginning to wonder if I have a bad cd. When I click on quicktracks.exe to try to reinstall the file, nothing happens.

I think clean uninstall and reinstall will help you solve the problem. I suggest that you contact Ulead technical support (through email) for detailed steps.

Is your VS9 an upgrade version? Do you also have VS8, is this still installed?

I did uninstall and reinstall per my first post. This is a brand spanking new installation of VS9. I had the trial version installed first and unistalled that prior to installing VS9.

Ok

When you uninstall Vs also uninstall Smart Sound
Delete all remaining SmartSound and quick track folders.

When you reinstall VS 9 the process pauses for quite a while before the quicktracks start installing. 26 music files should be installed.
If you do not uninstall smartsound then the install process will skip the new installation.

The delay in starting the smartsound install is that long you may assume the process has stopped or complete, be patient.

Hope this Helps

I did all that too.

The smartsound files are there (c;/smartsound) I just can't access them in VS9.

The delay in starting the smartsound install is that long you may assume the process has stopped or complete, be patient.

I let the quicktracks.exe file sit for about 5 minutes and nothing happens. The installation disk is accessed, but the executable file doesn't run.

Hope this Helps

I have had problems similar to yours, and cured it by uninstalling VS and smartsound.
The only thing i know is that each time i installed 9 over 8 i had problems with smart sound unless I deleted all vs and smart sound folders before reinstalling. In fact in the past I have cleared my pc of all ulead folders that I could find.
ok
You say that when you double click the
Quicktracks.exe
Or
Full Spectrum 22k.exe
That nothing happens??

I have just tried this on my system and the install shield starts, I cancelled the operation but at least the files do react.

If you are not able to open the full spectrum/quicktracks then I suspect you have a corrupt program.

Full spectrum 22k.exe does install, but the quicktracks.exe file doesn't do anything at all. I am guessing the installation disk is hosed up somehow.
