X7 crashes when I attempt to activate Balls & Bubbles

Post by Gold Acres »

I am on a brand new computer with a ton of memory. I am trying to create a bubble effect. X7 has crashed now on me 4 times. Everything is fine until I select Balls & Bubbles, even on a blank white canvas. I am not happy today!

So, I am wondering if anyone else has this problem or a solution for it...?

Balls & Bubbles works fine for me on X7 so it's not an across the board issue.

You could try resetting your workspace as that seems to fix a number of issues. If you have made customizations be sure to save your workspace first. Then close PSP X7 and re-open it by double clicking on the desktop icon while holding the shift key. It will ask if you want to revert to default (or words to that effect) and you should click OK.

If that doesn't work you could open a support ticket with Corel.

I thought you had fixed this after resuming PSP to default?

I'd say this is a glitch and not a bug as I and others are not experiencing this problem.

Good Evening!

I had this issue with PSP X6 and Windows 8 and finally bowed to defeat and functioned without the Balls & Bubbles feature.. too bad because it is one that I use frequently in earlier versions and operating systems. Today I purchased Version X8 with the misplaced confidence that whatever this glitch/bug/whatever this is has been well and truly rectified by this time. Not so...

I tried this default exercise with Version X8 and Windows 10, and BINGO! IT WORKED! I ws thrilled to bits, but then I reinstalled the File Locations and it reverted back to his non-working mode where it is most comfortable. I do use this feature frequently and miss not having it. Any suggestions from those among us who are more technically gifted than I am are most welcome.

Muriel!

Do you have your own Environment and Displacement Maps in any of those files? One of them could be the cause of it's not working correctly.

Good Afternoon Merlene..

Thank-you for your quick reply.. seems I am no longer alerted via e-mail when a reply has been posted.

And yes, yesterday I reverted it to its original state and gradually reinstated all the adjustments. It seems the Environmental Maps folder may well be the issue, but since there is always an another annoying glitch just waiting to tease me, I noted that the outside bevel and chisel options were grayed out. So I am in the process of reinstalling it, and with any luck at all, I shall prevail and it will work for me. I began this relationship with PSP when Version 8 was first introduced, and all the early versions worked like a hot damn for me. I wonder why there are so many issues with the bigger and better later ones.

Personally speaking, I think they are more interested in adding new things than putting out a stable product. But then we have had so many changes in Operating systems in the last few years, it must be difficult to put out a product that works across all of them.
