WinDVD 11 Pro re-install issue
I had previously installed WinDVD11 Pro(trial TBYB) on my Win7 Pro 64bit machine. Things looked OK, so I entered the activation code. After a reboot. it seemed the install didn't go correctly. I removed it with Windows program manager and then used the methods described by Corel for removing left-over directories/registry keys. I also sought out and removed any other entries I could find that related to Corel/WinDVD/Protexis. Now when I attempt to re-install WinDVD it appears to start the setup but then throws up a window saying "The system cannot find the file specified. "C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Temp\Corel WinDVD\11.0\Lang\EN\Custom\Init.htm". I'm installing it in Safe Mode with Admin Privilege and no Firewall or AV programs running. I'm on thin ice with nowhere to go and I really need some help. Please!!

Re: WinDVD 11 Pro re-install issue
I'm having a similar problem on Windows XP.
It seems that most of the files created in the Temp folder (after launching WinDVD11_Pro_TBYB.exe) are immediately deleted, hence "The system cannot find the file specified" message.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Re: WinDVD 11 Pro re-install issue
Well, I got this sorted out on my install and all works OK. It maybe is as simple as just downloading and installing the TBYB.exe once again. The file I was working with when I posted, had SP3 included in it. The current one, that came out right around my posting, has SP4 in it. I noticed a difference in file size! Mike, if this works/don't work for you, please post. I did some other things as well and I'm not certain what was the fix. I'll post the other stuff if needed but it needs much more typing (only use one finger
). Involves creative Profile/file juggling.

No, re-downloading didn't work.c21052 wrote:Mike, if this works/don't work for you, please post.
Both the trial (http://www.windvdpro.com/en/products/windvd/pro/) & Update (http://www.windvdpro.com/en/support/updates/) wouldn't install. The majority of temporary files created when running the installer simply disappear into thin air...

Re: WinDVD 11 Pro re-install issue
OK, the other thing I did was to start running the installer on another rig. At the point where the Agreement comes up I let that wait, using Windows Explorer I go to the aforementioned Temp directory and copy/paste the "Corel" directory to a jump drive. It should have the 2 Folders and roughly 14 files in the WinDVD\11.0\directory. You can then decline the User
Agreement any all will disappear from that rig. Then take the jump drive to your rig. Create a new User with Admin Privilege, using the same Username as the rig you copied from. Reboot and login using that user. Once logged in you can go to their Temp directory. Copy(don't Move) the "Corel" directory from the jump drive to the Temp folder and then run the Setup Application from within the 11.0 directory. I believe it asks for your registration code again. After it finishes it should work under that profile, reboot. Login under your profile, If the program is available to you, you can dump the other user. If not available, as mine wasn't (I use Win7), I had to login as the other user and remove the program using Control Panel. Apparently it leaves behind a Registry Key that will now allow you to install the current Trial Download when you go back to your profile. Again if this works, you can dump the other user. I hope it will work similarly in WinXP. I don't know if both rigs have to have the same OS or not. they were in my case. You'll find that the files still disappear when the installer exits (Good or Bad) but hopefully it'll be good and the program launches. PM me with Questions/Status. Thanks.

Re: WinDVD 11 Pro re-install issue
I do have access to a 2nd windows pc, so will try that copying the temp files idea.
(The strange thing is, if I run the original 11.5 installer (I have WinDVD 11.5 installed), no files in the Temp folder vanish).
