Gradients in X7
After searching the boards, I didn't find anything like I'm experiencing. I saw people complaining about the color wheel, but I don't really mind that. My problem is gradients. I must be doing something wrong; I just have no idea what it is. My gradients aren't three dimensional. They are flat.....lines of separate colors. I don't know any other way to describe the effect. Could someone help me, please? I'd be grateful.

They do say a picture is worth a thousand words. Can you do a screen capture and post your gradient and also its appearance in the gradient editor.I don't know any other way to describe the effect.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Re: Gradients in X7
If I understand correctly I'm assuming you're talking about gradient banding.
Gradient banding is what happens when there is too few color steps between the start and end colors. It becomes even more apparent when you spread the gradient out over a large area. Essentially it has to use the same color to cover a greater distance.
To get rid of this you can use either choose colors that are farther away from each other so that there are more available color steps, or you can perform dithering or noise. Not sure how to do dithering in PSP. But the noise option, you add noise on top of the gradient area, then use a small gaussian blur. It fakes a smoother gradient. But doesn't work on all gradients.

Re: Gradients in X7
Could you show us a snapshot of what the gradient looks like and also the gradient editor in progress. It will help to try and work out what the problem is.shopper7 wrote:After searching the boards, I didn't find anything like I'm experiencing. Re: Gradients in X7
Here is a shot. There is an image I flood filled with a gradient. It has 3 repeats. It should be rounded....3 dimensional....but it's flat. Almost all of them are flat. I must have something set wrong.....
