I bought X6 March 20th and and as far as I can see I will now have to pay the full upgrade price for X7 less than half a year later.
Can this really be the case? Most software companies have a grace period where people who have just bought the previous version get the next one for free or for a small handling charge. What happens to customers who bought X6 a month or a week before X7 was released? Same treatment?
Unfortunately it is next to impossible to get in touch with Corel to ask them a simple question like this one. At the end of August I called them by phone and was told a special offer was going to be sent out before September 4th. It hasn't arrived so far.
As many others have pointed out the upgrade price itself is high as well. I've been away from Corel for a long time since their early Corel Draw times and am disappointed to come back and find their customer relations in this condition.

No You will not have to pay the full upgrade price. You do not even have to get X7.I will now have to pay the full upgrade price for X7 less than half a year later.
Use your X6 and get used to it and either upgrade to X7 just before X8 comes out and you may get a real bargain.
Or skip X7 and wait for X8 and upgrade to it when it comes out.
Would be interested in hearing which companies do this for a complex program at the bargain price that PSP is.Most software companies have a grace period where people who have just bought the previous version get the next one for free or for a small handling charge
Also where is the cutoff point? You get a free upgrade if bought 1 week before , 1 month before, 1 year before the new version comes out.
I do know the service packs are free and with other software (eg Internet Download Manager , HD Clone, Portrait Professional 10 there are updates, but when they get a new version out it has to be paid for.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Re: Recent buyer must pay for upgrade?
In the past, Corel has in fact waived the upgrade fee, or at least adjusted it downwards, where the purchaser has bought the older version a "few" weeks before the new version was released. But the purchaser had to make a case with Corel, and I have no idea exactly what cut-off point they might have used apart from the few purchasers who posted feedback on this Board, leading to the conclusion that it was weeks and not months, and certainly not the "half a year" or less in your own case.
