Same problem here,

Due to a router crash I had to set up a new WLAN network the other day, could this be a reason?

Same issue here. "check for updates" seems to be working without errors, so I believe the program is accessing the internet.

Map Mode error: "An Internet connection is required for Map Mode."

OK -- I finally downloaded an image with GPS info. I too got the message about an internet connection being required. However, I noticed that the Next button below it was still active. So I ignored the message and moved on to the Next page of the Share My Trip process. It asked if I wanted to upload the image to my Dropbox account. I selected that and indeed the connection to my Dropbox account came up in my browser (Chrome) saying it was connected to PSP. However, the next message back in PSP was that I needed to have a Public Folder in my Dropbox account. But back in Dropbox I found that I had to upgrade my free account to a Pro or Business account before I could establish a Public Folder. But I am not prepared to fork out money on that since I only use Dropbox on very limited occasions.

So at least it seems to me that that "internet connection required" message should really be something like "make sure you have an internet connection before pressing Next" and the image which goes with the message should be changed to something less suggestive of your not having such a connection.

But I guess I also have to ask why the upload is limited only to Dropbox, and indeed a commercial version of Dropbox...

Now that's strange: I just opened PSPX7U, went to the "Verwalter" (no idea what this part of the program is called in english) and switched to the map mode in order to try what you just wrote (but being sure that I already tried that yesterday) - and the Google Map is there.
I closed and restarted the program several times yesterday before adding my reply to this thread, so the problem was real!

Maybe it was an issue at google maps and not an error at PSPX7U?

I entered GPS info into a number of images when testing PSP X6 and X7 for this feature and have not had a request from the program for internet connection nor anything to do with Dropbox (did not have that at the time I tested). Just checked, again no issues with internet connection nor Dropbox when selecting images with GPS coordinates. I was connected to the internet in all cases, makes sense that connection is required for the map.

The map and the location on the map appear when the map icon is clicked and also under Info/Places

I can't think of anywhere in PSP where there could be a setting for internet connection.
