Moviefactory 3.5 will not create or burn DVD's ??
Is there a bug with this version as after waiting over an hour for something to happen I gave up. I get a 'This will take sometime to render type message but nothing happens after this no HDD activity or on screen indication something is being done

So one can help me then ? Shame as the the creating bit is good but the most important part - burning is totally useless. You get a msg saying this process will take some time and then what ??
Nothing happens after over an hour so I to have ctrl + alt+ delete to exit the prog as it just locks up. Useless unless you are trying to burn a standrad DVD file any variation like 352 x 576 etc forget it mate!!

Also, what are your project settings. If the source and project settings are different, it will have to rerender. This will take a while (hours)
Also you can check "do not convert compliant ..." so DMF does not have to render.
The specs of your source file look over the top as well. 1/2D1 at 9586 Kbps? Something looks wrong with that. What was your capture device. Is the file perhaps corrupt. That is on the high side for full D1 (720X576) Are you sure there is not a problem with the source file?

OK I'll try and explain about the 9586kbps rate. The files are recorded in LP mode on my Panasonic E50 DVD home DVD reocrder on to a DVD-R blank. I extract the files using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6. This gives details about each (5 files on DVD) recording saying 352 x 576 25fps 9586kbps etc
If I load these as mpeg files into MF 3.5 properties give the bit rate as 2500 though so I adjust to 9586 thinking this is what it should / must be ??
I'm probably wrong aboiut this, but even leaving the birrate, video size etc the same the 'rendering process still takes a ridiculous amount of time if ever to complete where other progs take maybe a max of 20 - 30 mins to do the same thing. Anyway if the file is a DVD compatable file why should it have to re-render or convert etc ? Something not right somewhere
The Do not convert option btw makes no difference the rendering / creating process still appears to hang / freeze
Exactly how long should MF 3.5 take to render my files ?! 2,3 or more hours ??

I think something is going horribly wrong with the TMPGEnc extraction. It should not give you that bitrate.
I have a Panasonic recorder also. How many hours are on that DVD?
What setting did you use?
What are the project properties in DMF? Including the audio?
What are the clip properties as listed in DMF? Including the audio
Did you try importing the DVD video directly with DMF (without TMPGEnc)?
Did you try "ripping" your home-made DVD with DVD Decrypter?
Rip each show as 1 contiguous VOB using IFO mode (One PGC at a time to separate folders) and rename to MPEG for direct import into DMF.
I fit 4 hours per disk with my recorder in LP mode. When using RAM disks on the Panasonic, I can import and auto correct the VRO with Quickstream Fix in Videoredo. I then edit with Videoredo and it will render edited MPEG files for the DVD in less than 10 minutes.
I import the edited MPEGs into DMF and add chapter points titles etc. I do not edit the files in DMF. I author to a DVD folder on the hard drive. Time: 20-30 minutes.
I burn to DVD as a separate step using neoDVD copy and 4X Pioneer burner. Time: 15 minutes

I have since brought a 300GB firewire HDD and the problems I was having have gone away. I am able to create the DVD's using the original 9586 bit rate my Pan E50 gives when recording progs in LP...
I think MF did'nt like the 10GB of HDD space I have left!
A side issue LP using my Philips 610 recorder though is only using 2500 but the video looks about as good as the E50, why is this ?

No acc to TMPGEnc Studio / Mpeg editor and MF 3.5 it gives ther bit rate as 9586 with LP recs and 2500 with the Philips. Strange but true!maddrummer3301 wrote:Hi,
Your Panasonic recorder is using the same bit-rate as the Philips, approx 2500 running in LP 4 hour recording mode.
Think about it, if the bit-rate was really 9500+ then how could 4 hours of
video fit onto a single-sided dvd.
Hope this helps,
MD
