HI,
Is there an addin for easy 3d text editing for Paintshop X6? There used to be a program called Ulead Cool 3d that Corel bought... which used to be buggy, but did what I am looking for. It has proven to be very difficult, involved, memory intensive to work with graphics to create an 3d text that can be manipulated by editing the text or attempting to scale it with out major pixilation or changes as the size goes down. It has been a challenge as the paintshop seems buggy.
It is hard to select individual characters or the whole box as windows seems to grind to a halt on big images. As the size is reduced, they shape of the text changes drastically. Also it cannot be rotated on three axis.
Perhaps there is an addin that would make it quick and clean? I do not wish to go to a product like Xara 3D maker 7 or photoshop.

I don't know of a specific plug-in, but the old Ulead Cool 3D was replaced by Corel's Motion Studio 3D, which is available from the Corel.com store. I use it quite a lot for video titles rather than static images, and it is very much faster than Cool 3D. But there has been no updates for it in the more than 4 years since it was released. I don't know what this says about Corel's longer term intentions with the product.

I have found that there are a few sites that will let you edit text like http://cooltext.com/Logo-Design-Glowing-Steel and save as a .png file... which is nice because of the transparent background. It makes it easier to grab and paste as new selection or layer. However, the glowing effects don't really transfer over well. There is another app Xara 3d maker 7 which is pretty cool, and although not as powerful as Cool 3d... it seems a hell of a lot less buggy. Very easy to copy png's but also somewhat limited in shaping. http://www.xara.com/us/products/xara3d/ if the PS version would do better, I would probably lean towards it for the same money. Unless I start using Photoshop. Don't want to, have been using PSP since the nineties.

Write your text.
Selections>From Vector Object>
Convert to Raster Layer
Apply:
Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel
Many effects to choose from.

I agree you can do it that way, but... it can be time consuming. especially if you want to experiment with different colors, depth, and shading.

Photo impact can create 3d text too
and you can go to layers on your psp and go the properties layer style and click on bevel it will stay as a vector and you can still resize without losing quality on the bevel..until you convert to a raster..
you can create 3d text in shapeshifter in kpt filters....
