Hello, I am having a problem with rendering my .MP4 files. I have read numerous topics about this and have not seen a specific answer on a solution. I am using VideoStudio X7 Ultimate 17.1.0.22 64bit. I am using a new Canon Vixia camcorder and recorded in MP4 format. When I put them in the library and drag to the timeline, everything is ok. The files play great in the viewing screen. Then when I hit 'share', then DVD, X7 proceeds to render. It gets to about 5 or 6 percent and freezes. I use the standard DVD file type. Ive tried numerous ways, numerous times to no avail. When I record in AVCHD and render to a DVD, I have no problems at all. I am using a brand new computer and I specifically wanted X7 to take care of my video editing duties. I specifically bought X7 to take care of MP4 rendering duties to DVD also. Is there a fix for this? Do I need to give more information? I have read other topics about this same problem and the one that stands out in my mind is one that states they were going to use other software to render and no replies came from it. I'm willing to try anything to get VideoStudio to get this to work. I'm just a little desperate to get this working because I really don't want to go to another software. Does anyone have an answer for .MP4 rendering?
Thanks, Layne

Hi,
You are aiming for common SD DVD of your HD mp4 footage?
Have you tried rendering to an ISO file first and then burn?

Hi Layne
First create a video file, then use that file to burn a disc.
From the Edit timeline choose Share-Create a Video file – choose Mpeg2 - 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Render the project, does that cause the freeze at 5%?
If Yes what is in the timeline at 5%?
If the render completes ok use that file to burn a disc.
How
Start a new project Share – Disc – DVD opens the burner module (nothing in the timeline)
Top Left --Add Media - Add Video Files, find the file created above.
Create your menu and burn a disc.
The burn process will start with Convert Menu.
I have to say if you are intending to burn a disc then you should record using Avchd rather than Mpeg4. I would use Mpeg4 for computer and internet playback.
Can you give the properties of your Mpeg4, right click a clip in the timeline and choose properties, what are they.?
Also do that for your Avchd type recordings.
The details will help us advise on a template to use to convert/create your files.

Hi Lata, I appreciate your reply! I have tried what you suggested with no progress. It still 'freezes' at around 5% or so...
I have attached jpegs of the files I am trying to render along with a working avchd jpeg.
This is the mp4 file and this is the avchd Thanks, Layne

Re: VideoStudio x7 Ultimate rendering .MP4 files problem
Hi Layne
What are you trying to make, to burn a disc or a video for the internet / computer playback.?
To burn a disc use the AVCHD files.
Your MP4 sample uses 1920 x 1080 59.97 fps, you should set your project properties to use the same settings as your video file.
Video Studio can set these for you but only when inserting the first clip to the timeline to a new project.
Go to Settings - Preferences (F6) tick – Show Messages when inserting first video. – you will be prompted to match these settings.
Try on a new project as a test.
For your existing project you will have to set the properties manually, Settings – Project Properties
What are your project properties?
When you Share- choose “same as first clip”, assuming your MP4 is the first clip
If it fails again – What is in the timeline at 5%?
