Corel's Exec Officers

Post by Old_Friend »

Has anyone else noticed that ALL the Corel Executive Officers have a background in "how to get the most money from people for products" [Master's degrees in Economics, Marketing, etc.]-- except for one guy. And, that particular person has the duty to oversee "Quality Control" on most Corel products? He has failed badly! Maybe he was beaten down and pulverized by the 'bean counters?'

There is no 'Quality Control' and proof of that is not just merely my opinion, but it is plain for anyone to read on these forums. Look at the various "Wish Lists" for products - dating back several versions ago! Each one lists issues that SHOULD have been implemented/fixed in previous versions!!! Corel seems to be saying "... We don't care want you want or need. Give us more money for the next version, or suffer or do without!" We have yacht payments to be made!

In my opinion, Corel (up there in Canada somewhere) is only in business for the bucks (for themselves) -- not for releasing/maintaining/updating products which people paid for. To me, it's a scam and criminal to exhort $500.00 (US) for a 'new' product which INCLUDES many of the uncorrected faults retained from the previous versions. And, I say "versions" since it is an ongoing process. They NEVER complete anything, but instead they spend millions of dollars promoting the sales of "new" products (filled with existing oversights, errors, omissions, and user's suggestions). Shame on you Corel. Shame on you "Mr. Product Quality Control!"

Providing only one product partial-update annually for an existing faulty product and then promoting a 'new version' of it (costing many more dollars) IS A SCAM! The so-called 'new version' won't be updated to make it "correct", either! It will retain all its faults until they offer still another 'new version' full of many of the same lame programming errors! :x

So whats changed, all companies are in business to make a profit, otherwise what's the point and complaining about Corel on this forum is a waste of time, no Corel employees actually visit here.
All Video editing software companies are the same, sales and marketing set a release date for a new version and that date is adhered to no matter what, if the program still has bugs, hard luck, the program is still released on an unsuspecting public. It's getting to the stage where you buy a program and become a defacto beta tester.
I have just spent almost 6 months beta testing Premiere Elements for Adobe (due for release soon) and it will be released with some minor bugs still present, but at least Adobe are aware of the situation and patches will be released as soon as each bug is resolved. Adobe have also agreed to keep the beta test forum open so that we can continue to monitor and report back to the developers on any new bugs identified and the effectiveness of patches released. CyberLink have just released PowerDirector 13 and already the forum is filling up with complaints.
The only major complaint that I have with Corel is the 30 day warranty period and you are only allowed to contact them once during that period. All the other NLE providers offer unlimited technical support indefinitely (within reason of course) I have Adobe, Sony and CyberLink products on my computer and can always contact tech support with issues.

"In my opinion, Corel (up there in Canada somewhere) is only in business for the bucks (for themselves)"

...and what business isn't? That is the American Way!

What is the point of your silly rant?
