pspx6 workspace
I have configured my workspace the way I want it with pallet and tool location, suppress learning center and organizer. Saved and named workspace. Then went to File/Preferences and checked 'keep as last viewed'. When I reopen pspx6 it launches as IT'S default not as last viewed. This is very frustrating and a waste of time havin to reset the workspace. Is this a bug or operator error?

Re: pspx6 workspace
Did you try loading the saved workspace? Also, my understanding of "keep as last view" refers to manage, adjust or edit tab.

Re: pspx6 workspace
Thanks for the timely response. To answer I did name, save and load. It is my understanding that keep last viewed refered to the default launched workspace as it was last viewed pursuant to the workspace that was loaded (viewed) when shutdown. How could it be anything but?
Also why is view/workspace/color ○light gray so wellll 245,227,205 seems like it should be a neutral like 235,235,235. That is if you are trying to judge image color balance with the image editing software. Is this a software bug or operator failure

Re: pspx6 workspace
I have successfully configured the workspace the way I like it. Named that desktop and then saved in File/Workspace/Save. Then went to File/Preferences/Default Launch Workspace/ ○keep last view, and I checkec keep last view as the default launch workspace. When I close a d restart PSPx6 , it opems the way it sees fit not how last viewed. Is this operator error or illogical program design.
Also View/Workspace color/○light gray is close to 245,222,202. Shouldnt workspace background color be a more nutral 205,205,205 or so especally if you were to try color balancing an image? Maybe its somthing I dont understand about PSPx6

Re: pspx6 workspace
Have you tried not checking Keep last view.
I have mine set to Edit mode and always open in Edit Mode and it remembers my settings.
Re Light grey workspace mine is 208,208,208 and if I drag the image window edge outward to expose the imge background, it is 120,120,120.
I am operating X6 on XP desktop computer
I have not done any changes to color management or color profile.
My Dark Grey Workspace color is 47,47,47 and teh color background to the image extended remains at 120,120,120.

Re: pspx6 workspace
I will admit that it is confusing as the word "workspace" is used for more that one meaning:
1. The workspace tab, along the top of the screen, that launches when the program is opened (Manage / Adjust / Edit)
2. The workspace customizations you make and save to the Edit workspace toolbars, palettes and icons
Default Launch Workspace - Keep Last View refers to #1 above; not #2
Here is the information straight from Corel's Help File:
Choosing a default workspace
When you open the program, the Organizer is your default workspace from which you can access the Express Lab or the Full Editor. If your digital workflow requires a different workspace upon program launch, you can change the default settings.
To choose a workspace upon program launch
Edit workspace
Manage workspace
1 Choose File Preferences General Program Preferences.
The Preferences dialog box appears.
2 Click Default Launch Workspace in the list of categories on the left.
3 Enable one of the following options, and click OK.
• Manage — displays the Manage workspace when you launch the program
• Edit — displays the Edit workspace when you launch the program
• Keep Last View — displays the workspace you used before you closed the program in your last Corel PaintShop Pro session
My light gray workspace is 208, 208, 208
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all respondants
@ Kathy:So as I understand 'Default launch as Keep Last View' refers only to the tab at the top and not the tab as it was last viewed.
@Paul: So the workspace color button discribesthe workspace color if it is set to dark gray but if set to light gray it discribes the image background color and not the workspace color, with the image background being light gray reguardless of workspace color.
@Corel: Really?

I'm not sure I fully understand what you are saying. I am able to change workspace to either dark or light gray and the background to either black, dark gray, medium gray, light gray or white.

Re: pspx6 workspace
@Paul: To simplify, a neutral dark gray work space is useful to color correct an image. As corel coded a light gray workspace it s off neutral and one must use the image background for color correcting with light gray. This is at least is a bug that needed to be corrected in x7 along with the previous faux pas and at best counter intuitive. I've been in x6 for about 4 days and wonder what other goodies corel has for me. If you know of any other stumbling blocks or counter intuitives please let me know.

Re: pspx6 workspace
I don't understand your comments about workspace colour as off neutral. I trust you have discovered that you have a choice of light or dark grey under View/Workspace Color and both colours have identical values of red/green/blue - I think that makes them neutral (X7 has an additional colour). If you do not like the light grey, have you tried the dark? There are five neutral shades to choose from for Background colour, one of which you appear to have chosen from right click in the background. If you were to change the selections available, what would you do?LeWhite wrote:@Paul: To simplify, a neutral dark gray work space is useful to color correct an image. Re: pspx6 workspace
In X6 without Service packs (16.0.0.113) View > Workspace Color gives you only two choices Light Grey and Dark Grey . In both my cases they are neutral 208, 208, 208, and 47,47,47 respecively.
What I am calling the image background becomes visible if you have tabbed dicuments ticked and it then occupies all of the workspace, or you can see part of it (with Untabbed Documents) when you drag a corner of the image window aside. In both my cases that is 120,120,120 and in my version of X6 cannot be changed.
In X7 that is called background color and using View > Background Color that can be chabged to Black, Dark Grey, Medium Grey, Light Grey and white.
To illustrate:

Re: pspx6 workspace
@ Paul thanks BIG thanks now we are getting some where. My dark work space is the same as yours as is image background. But my light gray work space is about 20cc off neutrals. I THINK I loaded psp sp1 & sp2 correctly. The .exe,s went in with out problems. I use workspace color to aproximate the viewing enviornment. Light enviorn / light gray workspace. Thanks to you and all other respondants. So how do I get RGB equal in the light workspace, of edit tab
And is there a work around for 'keep last view' as 'keep AS last viewed'
Again many thanks maybe I gotta unlearn PS c2

Re: pspx6 workspace
Hi LeWhite
Not sure I am getting what you mean or want from
It always loads with the same workspace setup which I have saved.
I use just the Dark Grey workspace and don't bother to change to lighter or any colored space (as was available in X4 with a blue one there as well).
I prefer most parts of the workspace to be darker than most parts of my image so I will not lose the impression of saturation (a light workspace will appear to desaturate any image placed on it)
With Default Workspace set to 'Keep Last View'
1. I can start up in Edit mode , then switch to Manage mode and load an image. Move to Adjust mode with that image. Make an adjustment, exit program without saving.
Then restart program and it will open in Adjust mode with the first image in my Organiser showing (not the last image viewed).
This is "keep AS last viewed" except for the image which goes back to the first image in the organiser.
2.If I move through to Edit mode and then undock some palettes and load an image then exit. Restart and it opens in Edit mode with the palettes undocked and in the position where I placed them. ie ' As Last viewed'
Switching Default Workspace to open in Edit Mode
with undocked palettes it reopens with that same view in Edit mode.
What specifically are you wanting:
1. The workspace to open in Manage, or Adjust, Or Edit as you last had it?
2. The workspace to open in Manage, or Adjust or Edit with the last image you were working on irrespective of its position in a folder?
3. Something else?
If you wanted 2 then the only way I could see to do that would be to save your image as aa*restofname* so that it will be first in that folder list.
In regard to your lightgray workspace and its color bias I have no clue as I cannot repeat that on my XP machine.
Just as an example I show how my X6 opens each time:

Re: pspx6 workspace
Wow! I like your workspace! I want mine to open withthe learning center suppressed , the organizer suppressed the color materials as small as possible the layer palette in the middle rt and the history at the bottom. I want that as default launch as last viewed, not as corel wants with organizer using up 20% and learning center another 20% of the graphics workspace. What would be nice is if the paletts could dock to the side with fly out tabs. But that seems a little much to ask now.

Re: pspx6 workspace
That is referred to as auto hide and you use the little pushbutton icon to allow or disallow that. Have included an image for that:What would be nice is if the paletts could dock to the side with fly out tabs. But that seems a little much to ask now.

In my workspace the Learning centre and History are set at auto hide and fly out from the right when I want them.
I do not use the organiser so have turned that off by unticking from View > Palletes (Shift F9).
I prefer to use windows to make copies of images I am working on in another folder , usually on the desktop and have that open but minimised to the status bar. Fron there it is just a couple of clicks and a drag to get the images onto the workspace and have it automatically save back to that same folder. This means that when I have completed processing an image I just have to click its X to close and I am prompted with a do I wish to save dialog, for which the default is Yes. So it becomes ckick the X and hit the enter key. So quick when processing 15 images in a row with just slight but different adjustments.
I auto hide the history as I do not regularly use that and want my Layers to be as large as possible so there is minimum of scrolling.
