VideoStudio X7 - Video sometime loads sideways.

Post by TyroneK »

Hi All, i am new here and happy to be joining the community! :)
Perhaps someone can help me with a query, i have tried searching for an answer and cannot find one.

Basically I have a problem in that sometimes when I am loading a video via the Import Media File Button it loads in sideways (at 90 degrees). I am not sure why this is happening as if i play it any where else it plays perfectly. If i compare the file properties it is exactly the same as a video that loads normally:
Item Type: MP4

Length 00:00:36
Frame Width: 1920
Frame Height: 1080
Data Rate: 17127kbps
Total Bit Rate 17256kbpd
Frame Rate: 30fps

Unfortunately then when I turn the video it has a big black box around it. Has anyone had this or know of a solution?

Thanks for the assistance! :)

Hi TyroneK

And welcome to the forums

What did you use to record the video, a tablet or mobile phone are easy to rotate 90 degrees, that will record the footage as portrait not widescreen.

So what did you use?

When you see the video having black borders is the video squashed / out of proportion, everybody is tall and thin or is it in proportion?

You will find Rotate Left and Rotate Right buttons in the Edit control panel. See my attached image and the red arrow pointing at those controls. Needless to say, depending on your answer to Trevor's question above, you may find the result of rotation causes you to lose some of the image or else have it squished...

Hi... Thanks for the responses!
I recorded with my Galaxy S5.... And my wife managed to resolve the problem.
She copied the video back to the phone and then off again and it worked properly!
Something must have got muddled during the original copy. :-)

Thanks for the help!
