I'm trying to understand how the catalog works, to make it future proof.
I now have two 2 Tb disks in raid 1 and they will be full sometime this year or the next.
I want to start cataloging some contents of that disk, but I will have to replace these disks in the future for new and bigger ones.
I also have them backed up on a DAS.
Now what happens to the functioning of a catalog? When I have a catalog named 2014, and this catalog contains a folder /media/archive01/2014/amsterdam, it will be moved to a backup on the DAS eventually, and from there to something else I guess.
What happens to a catalog when I change/add a hard drive

Re: What happens to a catalog when I change/add a hard drive
I think I might have found the 'solution' by myself
. In Linux this should be easy. Just mount the new disk or the external disk to the same location with the same name.
But correct me if I'm wrong...

In addition to reusing the mount point, you can also move the catalog reference point (right clock on catalog, set moveable paths)
