Do I need to uninstall the trial version before installing the Ultimate version?
Or, if I just add the serial number to the trial installation, will it be the Ultimate version with all the other extras that are included?

Past experience suggests you should ALWAYS uninstall the trial version, then download and install the purchased version.

When you purchase the Ultimate version you are provided with two files/discs.
The Main program and an Ultimate Bonus File / Disc, the latter completes the Ultimate installation by providing the Prodad/ new blue extra files etc.
The two files are approx 1.4 Gb
As Ken says you are best to download all files after purchase
