ASP for use with Fuji xtrans RAF like Fuji X-E2

Post by Wolf638 »

Hi Everyone!

Apologies if this may have been answered. Searched and didn't see anything. I have been watching since v1 of After Shot Pro and now following V2. I am left wondering how often they update the camera profiles. I am using a Fujifilm X-E2 which is a XTrans CMOS II sensor and still nothing. I do like Corel products but am starting to steer towards Adobe Lightroom as they support the Fuji.

Is it worthwhile switching, does Corel take a long time to update profiles? Kind of stuck....

Again, thanks for your help.

I think something is happening, but Xtrans is hard to do right and I think AS development only picked up this year again.

cheers

Sad really, when i was looking at replacing my aging dslr i never thought to look at Corels supported cameras. I love my Fuji but now its either a waiting game or switch to a rental software with Adobe. Not great options either one.

Appreciate your response though. Thank you!

I would not touch Adobe for Xtrans, check out PhotoNinja instead.

If you look at the fine detail, Adobe still does some color smearing which is absent from PN.

I use the Fuji cameras and I can see that eventually I will probably replace my heavy Nikons with FX support for the Fujis running DX/APS-C sensors. To do this I would however need to get a 24MP Fuji which isnt released yet but I am sure will come.
The image quality from my Fuji XT1, XE1, XPro1 is as good as my Nikon D3S and slightly less than my D600 but there is a distinct difference when compared with a D800.

If you want XTrans support now then I use LightZone, PhotoNinja or Iridient Developer. These are very good. There is also DarkTable and AccuRAW but I find this less good for my workflow. Others will find different softwares suit them. I now tend to work on Mac so my focus in on this platform but I also have Windows and Linux machines so multi-OS support is important for me.

If you stick around here then you will find that X-Trans support will probably arrive soon.
Still learning after all these years!

Also the development version of RawTherapee offers X-Trans support. I'm pretty happy with the darktable development version.

I wont argue the workflow/usability issues of darktable, that really don't please everyone, but from what I've played around with my X-E2 files I'm also quite happy with the results, although I still need to do more testing with it.
