I have recorded files in AVCHD with my Panasonic HC X920 cam in the HA1920 recording mode. I will be transferring them via a card reader. I intend to down convert to standard def mpeg2 at 8000 kbps in order to burn a standard DVD.I will be using VS X7 for the first time and need some advice re prefs performance tab please
Do I check the following boxes or not ?
1 Editing process Enable Hardware Decoder acceleration
2 File Creation “ “ “ “
3 “ “ “ “ Encoder “
4 Pereformance Opt. “ “ acc optimisation

Re: Performance tab in Preferences X7
Hi Ken
I don’t understand it all, but as far as I know the accelerations are associated with your video card (GeForceGTX 760)
Ticking the options should improve the rendering speeds, but there are many reasons why rendering should be slow, what you are converting “from and to”, the amount of editing will give the encoder plenty of work to do.
You may not notice a difference.
But check them all, every little helps.
Then take note to see if you think pc speeds during video editing has improved, and indeed if rendering times have changed.
Others on the forum may be able to explain what all the options do???

Re: Performance tab in Preferences X7
I think I have found some info as shown below, its seems I can check all the boxes.
Hardware acceleration
http://product.corel.com/help/VideoStud ... ingle=true
Depending on your hardware specifications, Corel VideoStudio Pro lets you optimize the performance of your system by optimizing hardware acceleration.
Hardware decoder and encoder acceleration is supported only by Windows Vista and later versions of the Windows operating system software and requires at least 512 MB of VRAM.
To change hardware acceleration settings
1 Select Settings > Preferences [F6].
2 Click the Performance tab and select the following options under Editing Process and File Creation:
• Enable Hardware Decoder acceleration — enhances editing performance and improves clip and project playback by using video graphics acceleration technologies of the computer’s available hardware
• Enable Hardware Encoder acceleration — improves the rendering time required for producing your movies
Note: For optimum performance, VGA cards must support DXVA2 VLD mode with Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0 or later.
If you want the program to automatically detect the hardware acceleration capabilities of your system and determine the optimum settings, select all hardware acceleration options in Performance Optimization, including Enable hardware acceleration optimization.
If the feature is not supported by your system, some hardware acceleration options will be grayed out.

Re: Performance tab in Preferences X7
I ticked all the boxes and the following message came up
“For optimum performance .please enable all hardware acceleration settings.
Optimization may take a few minutes, please wait for a few moments.”
I selected yes
