Add to Timeline Icon Grayed out

Post by opus2801 »

Hello,

I recently upgraded from VideoStudio X6 to X7. I'm trying to add music to the timeline using Auto Music. The icon for adding music for the timeline is grayed out.

Can you give me an idea what the problem might be. I clicked on the Smart Sound Quicktracks and then the Album folder. It says that the Core Foundations and New Standard show "No" under available.

If I highlight Core Foundations for example and click properties it shows all the Albums that can be copied to the drive. When I try to Copy it to the drive, it asks to insert the Core Foundations disc into the drive. I'm not sure what this is. When I purchased the software it only gave me 2 discs. Disc 1 for Set-up and Disc 2 for Special Effects.

Any help You can provide is appreciated.

Best Regards

Core Foundations should have been installed as part of VSX6, so upgrading to VSX7 should not have affected the SmartSound folders, so please confirm that you could access them in VSX6

Go to C:/ProgramData/SmartSoundSoftware Inc/Sound Files

In that folder you should find the following tracks
Clear Vision - each variation is 43313kb
Julie's Place - each variation is 36657kb
Pavane - each variation is 38391kb
Super Logo each variation is 27483kb
Wild Chase - each variation is 27758kb

Not sure how many SmartSound Files are actually included in VSX7 as I now have an extensive library of SmartSound, but I think there should be some additional tracks installed

If the above tracks are showing in the Sound Files folder, open SmartSound Quicktracks in VSX7 and click on Rebuild SmartSound Database, hopefully this should correct your problem. if not it may be necessary for you to try a complete reinstall of VSX7.

Hi
All Smart Sound files should be on the first disc.
The second disc is for installing the Bonus / Ultimate packs (ProDad etc)

Just to add, when you first access Auto Music you are normally prompted to install updates, this installs some of the smartsound library content. I think Quicktracks5Installer - Did this happen.?

Make sure you have an internet connection when you run Video Studio then choose Auto Music.

If nothing happens go to Smart Sound Quicktracks – Internet tab - check for updates.

You can re-run that installer, if already installed should give you the options to Modify, Repair or Remove.
I only have X5 disc the files were here
VS_ULT_X5 (G)\Setup\RunTime\Quicktracks5Installer – setup.exe

I would suggest you transfer all files from the disc to your PC, then install from there.

Robert/Trevor,

Thanks to both of you for your quick reply. I reinstalled the sound files from disc 1 and they work fine.
