Hangs / Freezes while rendering

Post by HarryHare »

I am now at my wits end. I do not think it is because of Ulead as I have the same problem with Memories on TV, Pinnacle Studio and any program for making DVD movies

I am able to go through all processes without a problem but when I get to rendering I always hang at 2 - 8 %. I can render on another computer then transfer files bach to mine and am able to burn the DVD (all programs)

I faithfully scan with Virus protection, Spayware detection. Computer is always kept defragged

I have tried it with all background programs off (including Virus check)

I run two monitors and tried with both separately

I am running XP with Service Pack 2 - but it also performed the same with Service Pack 1

Video card is a GEForce FX 5200 with latest drivers, 2 HDD 140 Gig each
1 gig memory Pentium 4 2.5 processor

I have no problems with any other software

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Rendering video is very CPU and memory intensive. Some of the things that can affect the stability of the system during that time are:
  • Heat (check to make sure the fans in your system are running and keep an eye on the processor temperature.).

Voltage drops (a weak PSU can cause system freezes or reboots)

Bad RAM (download an ISO for Memtest86 and check your RAM for errors)

Buggy chipset drivers (the VIA 686 chipset drivers caused data corruption and program lockups on many AMD systems)

Harry,
Another thing that can ruin a Video file or DVD burn are incorrect or inconsistent properties. Follow the procedure in the top sticky post.

I Did the ram memory test - OK
Processor running at a normal temp
Have Pentium not AMD

Still same results

Thanks for tips
