Making a circular image

Post by martinreed »

Hi everyone,
I am using PSP Pro X5.
What I want to do is make a circular image from an existing rectangular image.
I assumed I would use the ellipse tool and then cut and paste but when use the ellipse tool to mark out the image I want on the rectangular image all I get is a white circle.
What am I doing wrong?

See if the tutorial in this thread helps you. http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=54549

Also, another method would be to use the circular selection tool. Working on a copy of your original image, promote the background layer. Once you make the circle with the selection tool you can re-position it by right-clicking inside the circle to move it where you want it on your image. Next go to Selection - Invert and hit the delete key.

also may depend on what you're looking for as end product. for example

Image to Image

i increased canvas size to make the working area a square with the rectangle in the middle; effects/distortion effects/polar coordinates, rec to circ, transparent edges.

Or this one, Filter Factory A round button, transparency 0
