Cpture issues with VS7 Ultimate and windows 8 in Firewire
Slow Firewire detection in Windows 8.1
I've upgraded my PC due to VS 7 ultimate not working with the old processor. This included upgrading to Windows 8. I also had to buy a new Firewire capture card. When wanting to capture, the software takes ages to pick up the Sony camera. It then captures fine but only if the capture device is plugged in after VS Studio was started - this still take about 10 min before it's ready to capture. I know there is nothing wrong with the card or cable. It seems to be either a problem with VS 7 Ultimate or the drivers of Windows 8, or a combination of the 2.
Please help!

Re: Cpture issues with VS7 Ultimate and windows 8 in Firewir
Hi
I have used Firewire to capture DV-Avi using Video Studio 7 with no problems, but with W7
At least the firewire and VS 7 worked ok, so it may well be Windows 8
Try using Win DV, that’s if the program will run on W8
http://windv.mourek.cz/
If that has the same issues then VS 7 is ok and it’s a pc issue?

Depending on make and model of camcorder you may find installing the legacy firewire driver might help.

I went through the whole process of installing the Windows 7 legacy driver and it is a bit better, but surely not working as it should. Still very slow. As it is not digitally signed, one have to restart Windows 8 with special Start up features every time on want to use this driver. If it was working perfectly, it would have been OK, but it's not.
Surely there must be some Windows 8 driver available somewhere... I'm so frustrated.

The Legacy driver should be digitally signed by Microsoft, where did you obtain your driver

My bad, MS have dropped support of the legacy driver in win8
As it didn't solve the problem, it is not worth continuing along this route anyway.
Did you try windv, or you could try the already installed "photo gallery" No idea who's idea at MS it was to use a programme called this to import video

WinDV does not recognise my Cammera - "Error"
Movie maker shows it as a capture device, but when you click on capture, it give a device is not recognised error. Switching on and of, restart, etc. nothing works.
So far only able to capture through VS ultimate but very sluggish. Surely Corel engineers should have some way to get this working properly!

Hi
Well if you have tried several pieces of software and all are giving problems then I would think it is your pc at fault rather than the programs.
Have you tried a different cable?
Are you able to use the firewire card from the old pc?
Can you try your camera on another pc, just in case it’s a problem with the camera.?

Movie Maker no longer captures via firewire you need to use PHOTO GALLERY, give that a try, but if that fails along with the other two, I suspect hardware failure.mmponline1 wrote:WinDV does not recognise my Cammera - "Error"
