Cutting in overlay track

Post by Phil »

Hi

I had 2 cameras positioned at a disco recently, therefore for editing, I'm able to place camera 2 in the overlay track and alternate between the two cameras

After aligning the two clips up, is there a way of cutting the whole overlay clip into regular segments with one or two clicks? Presently, I'm inching along, cutting and dividing which is taking a long time.

Thanks

Would it be any easier/quicker to
Place the o/lay clip in the top track
use multi trim to cut the clip
place the trimmed clips back into the o/lay track

I don't know of any way to automate the trimming process in the overlay track - but if you want regular cuts you may find it a little quicker to use the little digital clock under the bottom right corner of the preview screen to move the cursor along.

The figures displayed there are "Hours : minutes : seconds : frames" - so first click on the clip in the timeline to highlight it and then assuming you want to cut at say 1 minute intervals click on the minute digits and they will start flashing - one click on the little up arrow at the right edge of the clock will move the cursor forward one minute - click on scissors to cut - click up arrow - cut - click up arrow - cut etc. etc. when finished click anywhere on screen to stop digits flashing

Brian's idea is alternate way of doing the job. Thanks

If I were to use multitrim in the top track, I would lose the synchronisation of camera 2 to camera 1. Multitrim shuffles all the clips together after using it.
