Pro x4 settings

My imported files are 1440x1082 AVCHD. The project properties tab doesn't let me change out of 720x480 frame size, yet the aspect is set at 16:9. YouTube recognizes the rendered video as 720X480. I can't seem to get the original size. I do edit with smart proxy.

Hi

Older versions of Video Studio did not allow you to set HD properties for the Project Properties, however using Widescreen 16:9 is sufficient to display your clips correctly.

When you create/convert your project to a video file use one of the AVCHD / Bluray options. (Share Create Video File—AVCHD)
If “Same as First Video Clip” is available then your video’s properties will be used to create the output file.

Provided your video file is indeed widescreen 16 9 then you should not have a problem.

Some video files are anamorphic in that the pixels are not square they are rectangular, (is the easiest way to explain it) using a 16:9 ratio.

1440 x 1080 calculates as 4:3 but displays as 16:9, generally HD 1440 x 1080 is anamorphic.
Same for 720 x 480 Standard Definition, the video is anamorphic using rectangular pixels, being stretched to form the 4:3 and 16:9 ratios.

Clear as mud

From Video Studio, right click your clip and choose properties, what are they?

Smart Proxy helps with the editing process by smoothing playback, it has no effect on your final production
