What about those of us trying the program on a free trial basis? I've noticed an issue and need help with it. I have no desire to purchase a product if no one is willing to help me figure out if it is me or the program.

Cannot install on Windows 7 Home Premium

Post by normva »

PSP X7 Ultimate and Windows 7: I am now on day 5 of trying to get it to install my Windows 7, 64 bit, computer. I have tried the download version, and CD version, Normal mode and Safe mode. Corel support has escalated the problem, but no results yet. I have also tried multiple "solutions" in the Knowledge Base -- same fatal error in installation. Does anyone have an idea of something else that I could try.

I have 8GB of RAM and 200 GB of free HD space. I previously had X2, which worked fine. I removed it because I read on one forum that that may be the problem. I am now without any editing software because the X2 was a download and I no longer have access.
Thanks, Norm

Hi Norm
You can have multiple versions of PSP at any one time on your PC, this will not affect installing PSPX7.

When you say you are trying to download, are you downloading the recommended download, 32 and 64bit, and not separately? The fact the neither version, CD or electronic is installing says something more about your PC than the software. I can't help you with any technical advice. I am a volunteer here and do not work for Corel. You may want to contact Corel about this problem you are experiencing.

Someone else may have better suggestions.

Anyone see the same thing I do - some of the icons have changed - or swapped around. The curves layer icon is now the clarity layer icon. At first I thought it was just a glitch since my program was open when I got the notice to download and install. But I closed the program and went to the view-customize option to add icons - and they are listed the same wrong way - curves layer is now a different icon and clarity layer is the former curves icon (the one with a box and red sqiggly diagonal line.) I don't know how many others have changed. How could this happen? Ugh!

Yes, I think many, if not most of us see this. Different users have different icons messed up. In my case it is the layers icons that are changed. If you have a workspace saved, try loading that (save the current one first) - it has resolved the icons in some instances, didn't this time for me. Corel know about the mess.

Under Customize Toolbars you can reset the Standard Toolbars including Tools Options.
This usually fixes the problem for me. Corel are aware of it but cannot reproduce it or solve it yet.

Thanks for the tip. I reset Adjustment layers, the icons were corrected. After a while they went back to the messed up version. Reset again and they seem to be sticking for now, even after restarting. We`ll see if this stays.
