Anyone know why I cannot get videostudio x6 to recognize my logitech USB webcam c920 ?
I am running Windows 7 and the cam is brand new, surely a basic function of a capture software is for it to recognize popular webcams?
I do not have any firewire ports and only USB.
I know I can use the cam software to record then import but more inconvenient.
Thanks for any help.
Dave

Hi Dave
How are you trying to capture? You do not give any details. However it should be plug and play.
I do not have a usb web cam but can connect my camcorder via usb and is set to run as web cam.
This is what I do…
1 / Select the Capture Tab (top Left)
2 / Select Capture Video --- opens the options panel.
I get a warning nothing is connected.
I connect the camera to USB then switch on, A message showing “a new device is connected, do I wish to use”
Yes and the Web Cam shows in the Source window. You should see that….
The video displays in the preview window.
Your WebCam does not have a separate supply so should show straight away.
If not use the down arrow to select the “Source”
It may show as Web Cam or maybe USB device.
Now press the Options cogwheel for Video Properties to select a capture template.
I don’t know what you see here as the options depends on the type of device connected.
What do you actually see when connecting the camera.?
Having said all that you may be best to use the software that came with the camera?
Using VS may only give the capture format as DVD Mpeg2

Re: videostudio x6 will not recognize logitech USB webcam c9
Hi Trevor,
My webcam is permanently connected to the system, and I agree that the procedure to capture should be simply plug and play.
The reason I do not give any details is that as I said my webcam is simply not recognized by VS6. When I go to the Capture option I am told that there is no capture device installed on my system even though my webcam works fine. (See photo).
After clicking "OK" on that message I try the drop down menu in the "Source" box to choose a device but the list is empty. There is nothing to choose so the "Down" arrow does not even work.
I agree that it should be there, but there is nothing there.
It's crazy, like I said, one of the basic functions of capture software would be to recognize connected capture devices. Apparently Corel have not addressed that for one of the most popular webcams available, The LOGITECH - Pro C920 Full HD Webcam.
They will not even answer my questions on this subject as my VS6 is OEM, so they want to charge $19 per question regarding my problem with "their" software that I have only had for 3 weeks. The word "Sucks" springs to mind.
But thanks for your help, would appreciate it if anyone else can shed light on this problem.

Hi
Yep I see that message when no devices connected
Is the web cam being used in the background by another program. That may stop VS seeing the web cam?
OK
try disconnecting the web cam,
start VS
Capture Capture video
say ok to the No Device connected message
connect the cam--I get a message " new device detected - do you wish to use............

Re: videostudio x6 will not recognize logitech USB webcam c9
I guess I should have mentioned that I had already done what you suggested, disconnect, start vs, reconnect etc.
Makes no difference. Still not recognised.
Anyway, anyone with a handle on this is welcome to get in touch.

Hi
Close Video Studio and all other programs that may be using the web cam.
Disconnect the camera.
Check your device manager,
When you connect the Web Cam the Device Manager should reset, then show the Cams details within the Imaging Device section. Do you see the details in the device manager.
It does look a nice camera……….
and yes hopefully someone owning this camera may comment...

Re: videostudio x6 will not recognize logitech USB webcam c9
Whilst I do not have The Pro 920, I do have installed the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 which I have had for some years now and is still available , and using VSX6 & VSX7 it functions correctly.
Where did you obtain your OEM version of VSX6, most OEM versions of NLEs are not fully functional (the manufactures way of trying to get you to upgrade to the full version) so it's possible that VSX6 OEM version falls into that category.
