Hello,
In Video Painting program (7.3), when I open a PAL DV file 720*576 ratio 16:9,
I can't get the good aspect 16:9, only 4:3 (pictures are compressed, no possible to do anything with that)
Is there a mean to get the good dimensions, or to resize ?

16:9 video painting
Hi there,
Try making a new project, Uncompressed AVI dimensions 1024 x 576. Then render out to an avi. When you import this avi into your 16:9 Video timeline the picture will be anamorphic and appear squashed but will output correctly.
Hope this helps

Ahh, i see
I see your point. Would it be possible therefore to output your existing piece of video as uncompressed AVI (not type 1 or 2 but no compression) to 1024 x 576 (make sure not to keep aspect ratio), then do your painting on the uncompressed video then place back in the 720x756 16:9 project, again make sure not to maintain aspect ratio.
I say uncompressed AVI only so there is no loss in quality, you might want to try outputting a high quality DivX file for instance and work on that for the sake of HD space. Only a few of the codecs (including Type-1 and 2 DV) force you to stick to 720x576.
Keep us informed how your get on.

I've just tried that :
- convert DV Pal 720*576 16:9 to uncompressed file 1024*576
- imported into Videopaint : display with the good ratio
- painted geometric forms
- saved the file (.avp)and inserted it VideoEditor's timeline.
That Works ! geometric forms are in the good aspect !
Thank you very much.
