Hi Ian

Good that you remembered the 15.0 folder.

I will do a search of my system to see if I can find those files within Video Studio’s filing structure.

Hi Ian

I have located libguide40.dll in Video Studio files for X4, X5 and X6

I also found this article from Corel’s knowledge base

http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... nitialized

But why should the error affect just you and apparently "cobrairon"

Are you sure you have not installed any Intel software?

Can you use Belarc Advisor to scan your pc, that will show everything about your system.

All I've installed recently is an EXIF viewer called KUSO, and updated Capture One Pro. Un-installed KUSO, but that hasn't made any difference. Interestingly though, looking at the software installed, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 and 2013 appear to have been loaded along with the latest version of Capture One, whereas during my re-installation of VSPX5, I see that Visual C++ 2005 has been installed along with it. I'm wondering if that could be causing issues.

Anyway, haven't got time to explore further at the moment.

Well, I've used Belarc, but exactly what it's telling me I couldn't say!

Interestingly, the Corel Knowledge is about OMP Error # 15 - Initializing libguide40.dll, but found libiomp5md.dll already initialized, but in fact it is the libguide that is already initialised. Whether that makes any difference to the proposed solution I couldn't say.

Hi

I just don’t know what to suggest, Corel do have a Facebook account staffed by Corel people you could try asking the question there, I use that for a problem with Win DVD and did get a positive feedback.
--------------------------
The original Error message indicate Intel, so was it a hardware issue, you do not have Intel hardware.
So is it a software conflict relating to Intel programs, Belarc will scan the pc and show everything including installed programs, maybe giving more info that showing in Programs and Features, is there anything relating to Intel?
----------------------------
Then Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 was mentioned, is that a problem.

I assume your pc is upto date with all Auto Updates installed correctly?
---------------------------
The file libguide40.dll has been mentioned but is that relevant to your problem, certainly Corel have some details regarding Error15 in their knowledgebase??
I found that file in X5 file structure, but nowhere else, I suppose you only have Video Studio versions?
----------------------------------
There was another poster having problems accessing Share Create Disc-dvd, that option will show a new window floating above the workstation, I suppose similar to File Open shows a browse window.
Do you have any problems doing Share Create Disc – DVD

---------------------------------

At least you can open the project files, just not via File Open project?

Hi Ian

I don’t know if the libguide40.dll file is a problem but I have just viewed the file on my system.
I have three Video Studio X4. X5 and X6.
All files are the same, or at least appear the same.
Version 4.0.2007.428

The file description is Intel ( R ) OMP Runtime Library

How many libguide40.dll files do you find on your pc?

Hi Trevor

Now that I have found out how to do a search properly (!), I've found one libguide40.dll file, associated with Corel, and several instances of libiomp5md.dll, all associated with Capture One. My guess is, that's the problem. I'm wondering if C1 is inadvertently leaving the libiomp5md.dll open when the program closes (which wouldn't surprise me as that software often has "issues"). It may have been due to the latest update which I performed on 14 July. Strange thing is, though, that I created a small video at the end of July, although, if I remember correctly, I did have a lot of program crashes. I'll raise a ticket with Phase 1 about C1 to see if that is an issue.

I do have Intel hardware - it's the CPU.

Thanks for your help, so far. But, resolving this is taking me too much time, and I'm seriously thinking of trying other products. It's a pity that Corel is still using the legacy DLL in its VSPX5 software. Unless I go the "force program to continue" route. It might be quicker in the end.

Hi Ian

Well I downloaded Capture One 7, installed but is not affecting Video Studio.
Yes I now have the libiomp5md.dll on my pc, I have also found a version for Video Studio X7. (that version is newer than used in Capture One)
Indecently both programs are 64bit, don’t suppose that’s relevant?
------------------

You mention creating a video at the end of July, not that the date matters, but you seem to say there were a lot of crashes.

Video Studio has always been quite stable at least for me, if it does fail I usually know the reason or can find it.
One such error related to Quicktime updating to a newer version, installing an earlier version 7.5.5 did fix that particular issue, it was associated with X5 or earlier…, later versions don’t seem to have the problem. Sorry a little off topic….

Hi Trevor

That really is very good of you to go to so much trouble. Interesting that C1 hasn't had any affect, though I'm not clear which version of VS you refer to that hasn't been affected. I'm now on QT v7.7.5, and that was updated at the end of April. I've also raised a ticket with Phase 1, and this is the latest reply in my dialogue with them, for what it is worth:

To clarify a bit...
The notification you are getting is a system error. It may not be specific to Capture One, it may not be specific to Video Studio. It is an element of your computer that is integral to the OS as a whole that is causing the conflict.

It MAY be the case that this component was always in error but the error was never encountered. The changes in Capture One from the previous version would have no intentional direct connection to this dll error. However, perhaps a change in Capture One was made to FIX a previous error and as the software is now properly working it is conflicting with a previously present system conflict. Hard to say.

At this time, I'd suggest that you uninstall Capture One 7.2.3 and reinstall as per the instructions below.
If so you can continue using the software and Video Studio as you have while further investigating the system conflict with Microsof or Video Studio. My main concern in trying to understand what "libguide40.dll" is and does, I've come accross quite a few reports that suggest it could be spamware or other poorly build third party component. The dll that Capture One uses, which you've already identified (libiomp5mp.dll) is perfectly fine and viable in all builds of Capture One.

I don't agree that libguide40 is as he suggests; it is actually referred to in Intel documentation.

So, in essence there are a number of things I can try, none of which is certain to cure the problem. And all of this does, and will, soak up time, both mine and yours, and I think it is probably not worth further effort. Basically, I want my software to work, and not have to mess around trying to coax it to do its job. I have a choice: I can apply the workaround, or, I can try another application. I've downloaded and am trialling Sony's Movie Studio Platinum 13, and so far that hasn't caused any errors to occur.

It's a pity not to get to the bottom of it, but there you are. Life's too short! Thanks for your support.

Hi Ian

Its ok if you wish to call it a day, However it would be nice to find the culprit.
Having installed Capture One I cannot think it would be the culprit??
C1 is 64 bit with VS X5 being 32 bit installs to different locations so I would not think there will be any conflict, but then I am getting a little over my head………… its getting complicated………

When I refer to Video Studio I am using X5 as that is the version you are using, but also checked my other versions just in case.

Viruses and malware……..
I was thinking malware or spam as the comment in your last reply “I've come accross quite a few reports that suggest it could be spamware or other poorly build third party component”

Downloading and installing free software may install other items without our knowledge, many are not good. Search Protect, Browser Protect (there are a few) caused me lots of problems including affecting Windows Auto Uptdates, also slowing internet browsing.

The ultimate solution of course would be to re-install the operating system.

Good luck

Yes Trevor, I agree, it would have been nice, but there you go. Phase 1 don't seem to think it is their problem, but rather a system problem and suggest I take the matter up with Corel and/or Microsoft. I don't think I want to embark on either of those, particularly as Corel have issued a workaround in their knowledgebase, so it must have raised its head on previous occasions. As I say, I have a couple of options which don't solve the problem but avoid it, and take far little effort than trying to find to root cause.

For what it is worth, I thought that I'd report that I have just installed the new release of Capture One Pro, v8, and my problem with VSP appears to have vanished! The only change to my system has been the removal of Malwarebytes, but I can't now recall when it was installed (it was only a trial), before or after my problems with VSP. Possibly after though, as I suspect I was trying to see if there was anything lurking on my system.

Bit late now, though, as I've invested in the Sony Movie Studio, which wasn't affected, and which I quite like, to be honest. Still getting to grips with it mind you, though my experience with VSP has set me on the right path. Thanks again for your help Trevor.
