Upgrade to X6 or wait for X7

Post by drmuttillo »

I have Paintshop Pro X4, I was thinking of upgrading to X6, but as I see X7 will possibly be out soon. My question is it worth waiting for X7 or go ahead and upgrade to X6 now? Also is it actually worth the Purchase of Aftershot 2 along with Paintshop Pro? I also am a long time user of CorelDraw and I currently have X3.

X7 has Magic Fill which is functionality to automatically fill an area that you might want to remove from your photo. The fill is supposed to be content-sensitive so the software looks at the surrounding area and tries to fill the removed area with colors and textures similar so that the removal will look natural. I have found that this X7 functionality works reasonably well, provided the area to be filled is not too complex, and that seemed worth the upgrade cost to me. I had been using Photoshop CC and I found this functionality in X7 to be better than that offered in Photoshop, at least in my use.

The Ultimate version of PaintShop Pro also offers the Perfectly Clear plugin which also seems worth the cost. Since X7 will be out in about a week I would wait if I had to make a choice. Of course it depend upon your needs ...

Well I do not need to have it right this moment so I will take what you have said under advisement. Also will read other evaluations of this new PaintShop. Thank you for your response.

I would highly recommend you download the X6 trial while it is still available to see how you like it and then when X7 is released do the same and compare.
